Pours dark brown but clear, quick dissipating head. Aroma is a bit medicinal and somewhat toasty. Tastes roasted with a bit of medium caramel. Aftertaste hints at dark chocolate and also a bit astringent. An example of a Brown ale that should be in the lower 50%.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 craig220 (289) - Crofton, Maryland, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Poured a deep black/brown color with a medium light tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and nuts. Taste is chocolate, nutty, coffee, and a sweet finish. Could use some more body because, like most of their beers, it’s a bit watery.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jcos (1173) - Maryland, USA - APR 24, 2013
Location/Date:Bottle on April 23rd, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a dark opaque with brown head.
Aroma: Aroma of chocolate, some caramel.
Taste: Light bitterness, nutty, faint caramel.
Palate:Light body, as it must be the Abita water.
Summary: A decent brown ale. I’m always amazed at the lightness of Abita’s brews, probably due to their water. Makes for an interesting variance.

Dark brown, clear, tan head. aroma of bready/biscuity malt, cocoa, a little leather. Flavor is nutty, dark bread crusts, touch of toffee, an earthy note, a little cardboard in there. On the thin side overall, but flavorful. woody,

Brown ales usually need a catchy name to make them marketable and this one is no different. Fill in the standard checklist for brown ale qualities and you will have this beer. It is not a bad beer just one you have to be in the mood to drink or you really like the name.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 drdisque (377) - Illinois, USA - APR 6, 2013
On tap. Lots of other descriptions so I’ll pass on that part. Good creamy smooth and slightly roasted flavor. Very well balanced. A great sessionable brown.
