3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - NOV 23, 2010G: Poured into a pint glass.
A: Dark brown with some copper/red color mixed in. Plenty of head.
S: Mostly typical of the style, although there are more toasty/roasted flavors than would be typical.
T: Too much chocolate, and not enough of the classic "brown" flavor--quite different than what I was expecting.
M: Medium body with plenty of carbonation.
D: This is where this one really suffers. Just not something I’d like to have more than one of, although it does have some fine points.

Pours dark brown but clear, quick dissipating head. Aroma is a bit medicinal and somewhat toasty. Tastes roasted with a bit of medium caramel. Aftertaste hints at dark chocolate and also a bit astringent. An example of a Brown ale that should be in the lower 50%.

Poured a deep black/brown color with a medium light tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and nuts. Taste is chocolate, nutty, coffee, and a sweet finish. Could use some more body because, like most of their beers, it’s a bit watery.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jcos (1175) - Maryland, USA - APR 24, 2013
Location/Date:Bottle on April 23rd, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a dark opaque with brown head.
Aroma: Aroma of chocolate, some caramel.
Taste: Light bitterness, nutty, faint caramel.
Palate:Light body, as it must be the Abita water.
Summary: A decent brown ale. I’m always amazed at the lightness of Abita’s brews, probably due to their water. Makes for an interesting variance.
