2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I poured this beer from the bottle, noticing a deep, almost opaque reddish-brown color and a modest beige head that settles to a thin film of foam. The aroma is initially has rich, caramel sweetness, but the wonderful sweetness somehow seemed to evaporate with the head and faded to little more than a dull combination of mild lactose-like sweetness, some musty hops, and an afternote of dry cocoa. The flavor is marginally better but still sadly bland, with a light, sweet blend of milk chocolate and a mildest noticeable toffee character, although each characteristic seems to develop nicely as the beer warms. The texture is good enough, with a nice medium body that is lightened by a fine carbonation. Overall, although certainly drinkable, the superficial flavor profile leaves much to be desired.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep burgundy. Lightish body, but it has a chalky and syrupy base that’s solid. Richly roasted and chocolaty, with a pinch of sourness. Toasty bitterness. Light notes of coffee in the background. Dark, without being too dark, if you will. Rather drinkable.

Bought 3 bottles poured them all (one at a time) into a pint glass. Nice dark color, couple fingers of tan head. Tastes malty but not really sweet, which is good. Easy drinking, nice buzz after 3.

Surprisingly smooth flavor on the front end with chocolatey and nutty aroma. Creamy thick head and dark chocolate in color. You can taste the chocolate and caramel notes and the finish is slightly tart.
