COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike traditional German wheat beers produced by other breweries, Abita Wheat is a lager, not an ale, contains a generous amount of wheat and, therefore, has a clean, simple flavor. Available from June to September.

Bottle. Super pale with a small white head. Looks like Ultra, so points off. Light malty aroma resembling a low cal beer. Very light spritzy seltzer flavor of almost no malt. Add a lemon and get lemon-seltzer. This is ok if you are coming in from mowing the lawn, but they really did a great job of making a tasteless brew on this one. Kudos!

12 ounce bottle. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a small white head. Mild aroma of malt and grain. Taste is malt, wheat, and citrus. Bland.

330 ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy whitish straw with a resilient white head. Smell is skunk and yeast. Taste is wheat, yeast, sweet and bread. Light bitterness, is it herbal? Is it actually skunk? Light to medium bodied. Weak carbonation. Not a very good lager...

Bottle. Pours a yellow gold with paperthin white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a skunk grass and corn malt. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet corn malt and honey. Decent pale lager.

The fact that Abita made this a lager really seems to have taken out the flavor. Why even call it a Wheat? The aroma was light malt. The color unremarkable with no head. No lacing either. The favor was barely above that of a big brew lager. This was nothing like a wheat ale. There where barely any wheat notes. The palate was thin. It was easy to drink with a big meal but seriously left me wanting more. Not something I would go back to again.

bottle. light gold with small head. if you could bottle boringness, this is what it would taste like. grainy wheat brew with no objectionable taste, but nothing going for it either.

12 ounce bottle into pilsener glass, best before 9/27/2012. Pours lightly cloudy pale straw color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of lemon, pear, biscuit, wheat, pepper, grass, herbal, floral, grape, and light earthiness. Pretty good aromas here actually; fairly weak, but they have a typical well balanced German lager feel to them. Taste of grass, bread, wheat, herbal, earth, pear, and pepper. Lingering notes of light grass and bread on the finish for a short bit. Extremely bland in the flavor department, almost like carbonated water for real. Extremely dry on the finish as expected for the lack of flavors. Medium carbonation and light body; with an extremely crisp and dry mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming noticed as expected for 4.2%. Overall a pretty mediocre wheat lager. The aromas were pretty good, but the lack of flavor was a let down. It is certainly crisp, clean, and drinkable though.

Sweet wheat aroma. Clear yellow color with a small white head. Mild beginning with a building mild sweetness and light tangy bitterness in the finish.

draft at Dick & Jenny’s, GI, NY. pretty bland. light straw pour, little aroma & flavor. Very basic, probably OK in an unbearable heatwave in a NOLA summer heatwave

I hope there was something wrong with this bottle because if this is really what Abita was aiming for they need a new target. Off-putting chemical aftertaste ruins what was already a pretty bland beer.

On tap at brewery. Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Faint malty aroma and a watery malty taste.
