3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 gnoff (6320) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - DEC 6, 2007
(50 cl bottle from Systembolaget) Clear dark brown with reddish hints color, medium size creamy tan head. Milk, yogurt, malt and alcohol scent, also sweet and some sweet licorice mixed with toffee and fudge. Sweet, alcohol, slightly roasted taste with a subtle coffee aftertaste. Alcohol is a bit too evident though. Borderline big mouthfeel, rather smooth. Medium light bitterness. Should improve with a bit of aging, might try that.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Moz (613) - Gothenburg, SWEDEN - DEC 4, 2007
Bottle. Brown / ruby colour with a small tan head. Bready aroma with hints of vanilla. Taste is initially sweet followed by a light bitterness and notes of alcohol.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 FatPhil (7496) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 2, 2007
500ml bottle.
Slightly reddy brown, slowly fading head. Served a little cool, aroma starts quite a simple lagery one, but as it warms it gains sweet fruity notes, and more of a bocky bready malt, and picks up something creamy and almost vanilla-like. Each taste was different, some were malty, some very harshly bitter, some were sweet, some were spicy, some were alcoholic. Unfortunately there were more frequent negative tastes than positive ones. It shows some potential, but it’s not realised.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Tranquillity (1373) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 2, 2007
Bottle. Dark red, uneven beige unattractive head. Looks like mildew. Taste thick raisiny and chocololatey, but as a whole it’s just too close to a typical Nordic lager to be attractive. Banana finish as it gets warmer.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 ekstedt (4544) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 21, 2007
Bottle (50 cl) from Systembolaget. Deep clear copper with a medium off-white head. Strong caramelly malt aroma with some light roasted notes and a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied and smooth. Starts off very sweet but has a surpisingly dry edge and a pleasant bitterness. Very good by Åbro standards.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Marsiblursi (2952) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 18, 2007
(Bottle) Pours a very dark reddish nut brown. Quite pleasant aroma for a beer from the Åbro brewery. The nose holds tones of caramel, buttery toffee, dry hay, dark grainy bread, peppery vanilla ice cream, milk chocolate, clove and fruity sweetness of candied pears and a darker fruit touch of raisins as the most notable. Some alcohol notes in the background. Flavour holds a fruity sweetness, light caramel, vanilla ice cream and milk chocolate up front. A sweet and pear like fruitiness makes a little more complex backbone to this beer. Some grassy tones without any great hop bitterness – most of the bitterness and dryness are from the light burning alcohol. Still a quite mild and pleasant mouthfeel with some light silky milk hints that strokes the palate. Some liquorice notes in the finish with some even more subtle tones of other spices and herbs. Medium bodied. This is as good as a big Swedish brewery gets.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 voota (765) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAR 20, 2007
Clear dark copper with a lovely creamy off-white head. Soft citric, caramel aroma. Well full body for an åbro, pretty sweet and malty too. Flavours include something which could be mistaken for some light flowery hops, not from Åbro surely. The finish shows some caramel and smooth warmth. Very enjoyable.
