4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Golden/light amber with almost no head, clear. Malty aroma. Well balanced sweetness with honey notes with strong remaining bit harsh but pleasant bitterness. Opinions are different, but I like this taste! Meanwhile - the best is ’Brengu?u mix’ - 50/50 of the light (gai?ais) and the dark (tum?ais) one.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
30cl on tap at Alus Krodzins, Jurmala. Slightly hazy golden with a small, white head. Mild grainy aroma with hints of fruits and possibly hops. Sweet and grainy with hints of sour notes and a light bitterness. Slightly unpleasant, doesn’t feel quite fresh. Not sure about this one.

Pours golden with medium head, quite hazy. Nice aroma of malts, some hints of hops. Taste is sweet, maybe too sweet. Some time ago i loved this beer, then I discovered IPAs and DIPAs and now this is too sweet for me. Many people in Latvia like this beer. I like to drink it in the summer time.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
I poured it to the glass. Looked nice - that’s why 4 points there. Nice, lasting top. Then all the good ended for me - taste is too sweet (ok there are some nice hints of bitterness and it is different from other Latvian beers) and maybe I’m just spoiled right now as I just came back from England so I waited a bit and let it breathe to see if that makes difference. Well it got worse. Top was not there anymore, aroma was completely gone and taste was still TOO sweet, So I did what I almost never do - I poured it away. And please forgive me if you like sweet beers and this one in particular.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 3, 2013 Medium offwhite head. Slightly hazy deep yellow body with light carbonation. Strawy dusty fruity aroma with grainy herbal earthy notes. Dry-sweet earthy dusty herbal taste with spicy resiny notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish minty strawy herbal aftertaste with grassy oily fruity notes. Lovely and incredibly vivid. Intensely drinkable. Fairly bitter finish. (0.5l PET bottle, from tap at Alus Stacija, Riga. Sold as "Brengulu Gaisais." Rated again draft at Gauja under the name "Abula Gaišais" with markedly lower scores. Seemed like a different beer, even.)

Tap at S. Brevinga, Riga. Golden/organge slightly hazy body, with some lacing and tiny head that reduces to a filmy layer. Sweet. Honey aroma, with hints of citrus and caramel. Also tastes honey, caramel, syrup and brown sugar. Too much honey in both aroma and flavour. (21.Dec.2012)

Tap. Pale yellow color. Small off-white head. Sweet, grainy aroma. Sweet, malty, moldy hay, yeasty flavor. Somewhat bitter side taste. Tobacco? That bitter side taste turns quite unpleasant at the end.
