COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale aged in oak wine barrels with blackberries added.

Late in the summer of 2012, we received a phone call from a farmer on the Western Slope. She informed us that she had a field full of delicious blackberries that were ready for harvest, but no one to sell them to. We had a batch our dark sour that tasted delightful and was ready for fruit, so we were happy to buy them.

We let those fresh, whole Colorado blackberries age in our dark sour for over two months. The resulting flavors were a mix of dark fruit notes that accentuate the rich caramel malt and vanilla notes in the dark sour. We can’t wait for that farmer’s next phone call.

A great sour from AC Golden. Batch 1. Blackberry, vanilla, sour smell. Taste is a perfect sour pucker with the blackberry flavor really at the front. Very light and tart, dry. A great combination of tart, sour, crisp, light...just a wonderfully done beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish-amber pour with a white head. The aroma is very sour with some strong raspberry and toffee notes. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of tart, sour raspberries plus some cherries, grapes and oak. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle @ Troy’s mead b-day bash - The Stein & Vine. Thanks Chad. Batch#1, brewed 09/20/2011, bottled 10/18/2012. I guess if you are gonna use French then why not call blackberry by its name instead of Framboise Noir and adding a typo? Vinegar does not make your beer awesome ....

From notes. Tasted on 3/16/13 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle at our epic Bottleworks tasting with Curtis, Jedi, and crews from Knoxville and Nashville, and a second time at Boots’ old house. Pours hazy, fiery orange with a thin pink head that leaves thin lace. The nose is very sour and funky with tons of blackberry, a bit of rice puff malt, and a reductive balsamic note. The flavor is intensely sour, a touch of blackberry syrup and balsamic, and just a bit of rice puff and oak. The body is medium with tons of gripping tannin, just under average carbonation, and a long, super sour, touch of blackberry, and some barrel treatment finish.

Bottle shared by a brah in Vt. Pours deep amber with medium off white head. Flavor is not my favorite due to the insane amount of acidity. No balance at all, just overly sour and acetone vinegar forward. I hate these kinds of sours that are becoming popular. F Macro
