hopscotch (9171) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 26, 2010
Bottle... Pours nearly clear with effervescence, but no head. The aroma is of dried, fallen apples. Light-bodied with a thin mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. The flavor is far more tart and refreshing than I anticipated. Sweetness is low. Alcohol is unapparent. Finishes tangy and dry. Bottle states 6% ABV; not 8% ABV. Enjoyable.

Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 30, 2010
Enjoyed on tap in a pub glass. The beer pours a Champagne-colored light yellow hue, with essentially no head. The nose carries the slight scent of artificial backsweetening, but also pleasant hints of tart apples. The palate lacks the bracing acidity and tartness of some better European examples of the style, but still manages to show a subtle note of tartness, especially in the mid- and late palate. Artificial sweetness is also present in the flavor profile, but is subtle enough to avoid being a real detractor. Perhaps the cider’s highlight is its deft concealment of alcohol. At 8%abv, this is about as drinkable as lemonade...dangerous in its deception. Overall, a little too much of an effort to appeal to the narrow American palate, but style a decent effort.

Pours out a light yellow chardonnay .. . light pear and apple wine aromas .. . light perry, light chardonnay, and light tart apple juice flavours .. . light spritz in the mouth, not as smooth as one would like .. . decent, wine drinkers would love it.. . Never start with the head! The victim gets all... fuzzy...

Poured from bottle. Odd nose; I did smell some green apple, but it was overwhelmed by a scent that I can only describe as green tomato. Appearance is light and faint yellow, with small bubbles. Taste is dry and crisp, but I still wanted a bit more apple up front. Finishes clean and quick. Not bad, but I wanted more flavor than I got.
