A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Helt klart bra! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy gold color. Lots of carbonation. Caramel, banana, bubblegum, spicy phenols, manure., lightly soured milk. High carbonation makes this less heavy than it could be at its gravity. Hoppier than expected from the aroma. Starts sweet with some bubblegum flavor, nice caramel malt. Finishes hoppy and phenolic with sticking caramel notes. Some acidity in the middle. A nice complex beer. More bitter than an average blonde, which sets it apart, keeps it from being too sweet. Nice beer.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2016 33cl bottle, served in Trappist chalice. Poured a cloudy amber with an one finger head. Fizzling carbonation. Aromas of orange peels, citrus, caramel, banana, grapefruit. Taste is continuation of aroma with notes of vanilla, cotton candy, bubble gum, spices. Frothy mouthfeel, medium body with a fruity bittersweet finish. For 8% ABV this drinks way too easy. Love this brew, a very candy sweet, hoppy & fruity blond.

Aromat owocowy i ziołowy dość intensywny.

Clear golden. Medium sized head. Sweet aftertaste. Nothing special as far as blondes go.
