COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Nothing special. Mild fruitiness, some funky metal and a bitter hoppy finish. Just before the finish there’s a nice smoothness though.

Bottle. Golden with small white head. Aroma of honey and grain. Medium body, some sweetness, grain, and a mild bitter finish.

Bottle. Golden pour with a lot of head. Pretty soapy, unappealing aroma, however not a bad tasting beer at all. A little bit of fruit, with a lot of Belgian yeast. A little spice on the finish. Well hidden alcohol. Overall a good tasting beer.

Wonderful pleasing nose. Aroma of malts, spicy yeast, straw, orange, spices. Flavour is yeasty, sweetish, fruity and spicy. Nicely balanced and complex. Belgian Trappist elegance.

Pours with a thick fluffy white head, smell is yeast and slightly fruity. Taste wise it reminds me of a stronger version of Leffe Blond. Shame I drank it in between two other utterly godly beers in a session yesterday so perhaps I wasn’t so impressed by comparison. Still, a decent drop!

Really a soft Belgian one. Still taste and smell Belgian but the taste is so much smoother and softer! Very good overall!

From 33 cl bottle. Aroma of some earthy and grassy hops. Pours hazy yellow with foamy white head. Tiny head lasting. Moderate bitter, balanced with some sweetness. Little sourness. Finish is bitter and sweet. Watery body and lively carbonated.

One of the "new" trappists, Achel Blond 8 is a little sour in the nose but has a rich, full taste. For a strong beer the taste dies away quickly though, which makes this beer a decent but not so special trappist.
