A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

33 cl teku. Pours an abundant white and frothy head, typical blonde golden/colour, surprisingly almost/practically clear. Smells yeasty, fruity, bit floral form hops, cereals, estery; very belgian as you could imagine. Tastes fruity, honey, bread, bit more green/grassy towards the finish. Both bitter and sweetness are holding at the same level, tasty yeasty and grassy finish. High carbonation, nice texture and body. Nothing really special, but very refined and balanced, appreciated the smoothness and drinkability (doesn’t feel 8%vol). Solid belgian tripel/ strong golden ale

Bottle of 33cl Good Trappist beer, but not the best one. Very fast taste, but nice palate and colour and great appearance (cloudy and very sparklin’ maybe too much for a trappist) ! Try it !

Poured from 33 cl bottle. Nice, thick head. Some lacing. Golden colour with some haziness. Mild fruity aroma with a hint of citrus. Taste is fruity and floral with slight bitterness and citrus notes in the end. Despite the 8 ABV alcohol cannot be discerned. Medium body with average carbonation. Overall, not the best of the trappist beers, but an excellent beer neverthless that leaves me wanting for more.

Great beer. Typical Belgian Trappist but so well balanced. Very easy drinking, nice smooth floral, spicy and no real hint that it’s 8% abv. Could happily session this.

Una perfetta trappista. Colore perfetto e schiuma persistente.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 330ml bottle poured in a Leffe chalice. A: Pours a pale yellow color, just a bit cloudy. Forms a huge thick, creamy fluffy white head. Good retention and many many chunks of foam and lacings left. Typical Tripel S: Complex smell. Sweet honey upfront. Fruity and bit citrus. Malts, Belgian yeasts and citrus hops T: Follows the nose. Sweet upfront, honey, mainly. Candy sugar, malts and Belgian yeasts. A dry taste, in overall, followed by a citrus and reasonable hoppy bitter aftertaste M: Heavy creamy body and reasonable carbonation. Sweet upfront. Citrus bitter aftertaste D: Very drinkable. Authentic Belgian Triple. Authentic Trappist quality [ BA Review @ 11/12/2009 ]

Light & hoppy with a thick white head. A refreshing almost lager-esque well-balanced grape champagne Belgium. Rated by BrewTom

Aroma - nice aroma. A lot of hints of things like apricot, straw, yeast, etc. Appearance - great golden color. Taste - well balanced sweet upfront but leaning a bit toward bitter at the end. Palate - fizzy but not overwhelming. Overall - pretty damn good Belgian blonde.

Trippel de llibre, aromes i sabors molt equilibrats entre el malt (pa, grà, briox, caramel) el llúpol (herba, llimona) i el ferment (clau, ésters de taronja, plàtan, alcohol). Referescant i llarga pero molt bebible.
