3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 mansquito (1607) - washington, Washington DC, USA - SEP 9, 2011
NBD, NY 11.2oz ($5.25): Pours a nice orange color with a frothy white head that leaves a very pretty lacing. Aroma of yeast, sugar, fruit, and a non-offensive whiff of le booze. Taste is nice and sweet throughout. A mild hop bitterness comes in at the finish and leaves a long, lingering aftertaste combining the bitter and sweet aspects. A good amount of spice is present. The yeast strain is quite tasty. If a monk is a finger of God, then is beer the finger of a monk? Or am I just reading too far into the Achel website? In any case, this is well worth having as an example of flawless craft.

Pretty clear orange color, average sized white head. Smell malts, yeast, little bit caramellic. Taste malts, yeast, a bit sweet, some caramel, lightly fruity. Great mouthfeel, carbo suits the beer and it’s alcoholpercentage, medium body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerSkull (494) - SWEDEN - SEP 6, 2011
Fresh and very tangy scent of citrus, spices, yeast and pine, and there are also a slightly acrid tone similar to detergent. The taste is acidly fresh and quite short and contains mainly the taste of wheat, yeast, citrus and spices. Bitterness is what stays the longest of the flavors. A beer with a rather pungent flavor that is perfect for spicy food!
