agl108 (354), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 23, 2008 330 mL bottle. Poured cloudy gold with fizzy bone white head. Floral aroma. Citrusy, spicy, and dry with notes of orange, coriander, lemon. These Achel monks make a damn fine beer.
BoBoChamp (317), Gent, Belgium Jul 26, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, balanced, hazy, rocky head, very good brew, a topper! plovmand (420), Helsinge, Denmark Jul 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a huge white head. Malty and spicy aroma.
Flavour is fruity with some hops and spices with a touch of alcohol. tjthresh (1257), LaPorte, Indiana and Belton, Missouri, USA Jul 19, 2008 Pours pale golden with a thick, sticky, pure white head. Basic pilsner malt, yeast character, grass hops, and a bit of a lemon character. Lemon in the flavor at well. Just sort of light and spicy. Medium body, and highly carbonated. Dry finish. Pretty good. BeerEssential (81), Massachusetts, USA Jul 18, 2008 Poured a cloudy golden-orange with a nice, long lasting fluffy head leaving great lacing. When I cracked open the bottle, the beer just came rushing out, and I had to save it with a quick scoop of the glass. Aroma reminded me of apricots and caramel. Taste was sweet with a sharp bitterness that hit the back of the throat...but that wasn’t a bad thing. Highly carbonated and refreshing. Rarely do I drink a Trappist beer and think I could have a few more, but this time I was jonesing! kiefdog (325), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 15, 2008 33cl bottle from Kingdom Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy, caramel golden with a thick and frothy white head that settles slowly. Good head retention and glass lacing. Aroma is heavily yeast and bread with hints of ripe fruit, barnyard funk, and fresh hay. Clearly visible particulates throughout. Flavor is strongly yeast and bread as well with notes of caramel, honey, and sour fruit. Medium body with a slightly sweet and malty finish. Interesting.
