COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Very moreish. Couldn’t believe the amount of initial head but that didn’t stop me getting through it. Wife loved it equally.

0.33 bottle.
A hazy, dark copper color and a large, thin, white head. Aroma is sweet, spicy, malty, yeasty, but also a bit tacky. Taste is sweet, malty and spicy as well as mediocre. A medium body, a creamy texture, and a soft to average carbonation. Finish is relatively long, not particularly awesome. Overall the beer is alright, somehow not my cup of tea.

Bottle into a tulip. Pours a cloudy medium amber, with a moderate white head that lasts.Good lacing. Nose is fruit and yeast. Taste is fruit up front, with some hop bitterness towards the medium length finish. Quite nice.

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, Belgian yeast, orange and spices.

Appearance:
Hazy golden beer with a medium white head.

Taste/Palate:
Medium sweet with malts, Belgian yeast, orange and spices.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense and balanced, but lacks depth and complexity. Just an average Belgian Strong Ale, but that still means it is pretty damn tasteful.

Looks great dark gold. Light sweet aroma. High carbonation, sweet frosted flakes, after nice dry bitterness. Really classic blonde. Satisfying filling and tasty.

11.2 ounce bottle, 13/06/15 printed on the back label, not sure if that’s the bottling date, best by date or what exactly. Served in a Prairie Teku, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with a couple inch frothy off-white head that stuck around for a really long time. There’s also a lot of lacing. Aroma is OK, the brew smells like candy sugar, pear, banana, bubblegum, yeast and breadiness. The brew tastes like clove, banana, pear, candy sugar, bready malt, and peppery spice. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s smooth and creamy with a lot of carbonation. By no means is this a bad beer at all, but it really didn’t do anything for me. Glad I got to try it, but it’s not my favorite. With that being said, it’s worth trying if you’ve never had it before.
