COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

hazy golden colour, moderate white head; aroma of yeast and fruits; well ballanced sweetness and hoppy bitterness with citrus notes and well hidden, though present alcohol; significant carbonation; really great trappist ale

Beautiful and well balanced trappist beer, Achel is one of my favourites and can be tasted alone for a refreshing and tasty drink as well as along with a meal.

Slightly hazy deep orange appearance, strong and lasting head. Malty, yeasty and spicy aromas, well well rounded taste and palate. One of the best beers around.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2009 magnificent head, really HUGE! fluffy almost Duvel like. Very orangey aroma, some citrus hints, floral, outhouse, farm and something that reminds me of a nice spring day. Fantastic when it hits the tongue, very fruity with a perfect amount of bitterness to match it.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2007 Effing amazing. I don’t care what the consensus rates this beer; the consensus is an ass. I loooove expertly done Tripels, and this presents like a Tripel, not some generic "Belgian Strong." It’s about as delectable as any Tripel I’ve had. I never knew the meaning of "rocky head" until this one piled upon itself in all its topographical glory. Lacing is aggressive. Appearance points shall duly oveflow into the overall score. This one mellowed up on me towards the end of the glass. 1/10 a point off for that, but still.

330 ml bottle in Germany Pours a cloudy orange with a thick long lasting beige head. Lots of carbonation in this one. There is a lot of spice in the aroma and yeast in the taste, I believe there is also some fruit in there but I would not hazard a guess at what it is. Palate is very smooth for this type of beer. Very well done!

Yeast hop funk aroma. Huge frothy white head that sticks around. Amazing caramel and toffee taste, a little dry. Gorgeous lacing. One of my faves now. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a fluffy white head that sticks around. Nice lacing with bubbles rising. Smells crisp. Apples, spices, and alcohol. Taste is of spice, ripe fruits, and slight alcohol. Very nice. Medium carbonation that dances across the tongue like rochefort. Crisp. Very nice! Like better than westmalle or chimay.
