GUSHER!!! Started spewing even before I’d opened the cap. Even after sitting to rest for a few minutes it immediately started foaming up when I poured it in the glass. Golden colored. Very cloudy. Huge white head. Flavor is nice, but subdued.

Very nice cloudy golden color with a fluffy white head. Banana, clove and hops aroma. Initial flavor is nice and sweet with banana, clove and honey. Then an overwhelming bitter metallic aftertaste hits that makes this beer nearly undrinkable for me. Disappointing.

(Bottle) Cloudy amber colour with a thin, creamy head. Horse blanket nose, lemon with some spice. Spicey, sour flavours. Interesting brew.

Lightly hazy golden. Foamy white head looks good and coats the glass nicely. Overwhelming yeast aroma reminds of simpler beasts than trappist ales. This feels almost corny, definitely peppery and clovey. Estery (bananas) and peppery yeastiness, rather phenolic as well (approaching band-aids). Light-medium body, very tired low carbonation level. For one, more hops would be more than welcome and then, more malt exploitation through the yeast could create far more complex flavours…

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2007 (Bottle) Pours light amber. Big white head. Fruity, malty, a bit spicy aroma with hints of metal, corn, pears, bananas and apple tobacco. Small undertones of allmond paste. Well carbonated, fruity, champagne-ish flavour with some sugar peas, pears and minerals. Short and pretty dry finish.

Trappist beer tasting hosted by Coaltrain Wine and Spirits, Colorado Springs, 5/8/08. This one led off and was one of the two Trappists on hand I had not had before. Decent appearance, and a fresh wheaty aroma. Slightly fruity with a hoppish background. Sort of pales next to the Chimay Cinq Cents being served up next to it. Medium-light mouthfeel and decent finish. Near the bottom of the list at the event. Still looking forward to their Extra Bruin.

Huge frothy head that held to he last drop. Very bubbly auburn body. The nose was quite sweet, honey and yeast. Taste was a bit like brown vinegar, starting sour and ending a bit bitter, yeasty as well. Was a bit to harsh for my liking. Palate was light and lively, but a bit astringent.

Bottle. I was really disappointed by this one. Normally I love the trappist ales, but I found this one not very interesting. Pours a clear golden colour with an average sized head that leaves quickly. This could be due to the state of the glass where I got served in, this was dirty and wet. Spicey, herbal aroma with hints of citrus and grass. Flavour has again the spices with some bread tones. Really Belgianny, nothing extraordinary going on in my opinion.

It does not happen often in my book that a blond beer outdoes the dark beer by the same brewer.

This beer pours a very bright, but cloudy yellow with lots and lots of floaties hovering about. It has a very sweet aroma hinting of fruits. The taste is very full and reminds me of a weiss beer. I really didn't enjoy the taste much because the wheaty flavor is not something that I have ever grown accustomed to. I couldn't drink very much of this just because I really don't like the flavor.
