COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Slight dry, sweet aroma. Light gold/orange-clear with a small white head. Its a fairly dry beer still cara-malt sweet and belgian yeast spiciness with a kick. A bit of an earthy hop and fruity undertones (pear). Still very blonde.

Pale golden color with huge and stable head. Aroma of fruits, orange, rather fresh, spicy yeasts. Taste is smooth, fruity, bready-biscuity, warming, balanced. Slight bitterness in the finish. Carbonation is very present, but not crisp and not aggressive as in many other Belgian Strongs/Tripels. A fine-quality brew, well executed. Delicious, it just lacks a bit of complexity.

Lightly clouded yellow with off-white head 1.5 inches thick, medium-fine coarseness, moderate rate of decay. Aroma is light lemon, orange, sweet hay, fresh sour dough bread, touch of farm and grain underneath. Body is light, watery/ a tad bit oily, moderate-to-heavy carbonation of medium-fine coarseness with strong burn. Flavor is lemon, hay, light dry biscuit, whole-grain bread, a touch of green twiggy herbs. Overall, a decent Belgian ale, not as crisp tasting as some of the best varieties, in my opinion, yet leaning in that direction.

Amarelo dourado, espuma volumosa e persistente. Turva. Aroma de frutas amarelas, e uma certa criticidade, amargor baixo crescente. Corpo médio. aftertaste doce e aquecedor.

Ottima nel suo genere, blonde fresca beverina e profumata pur avendo ben 8 gradi alcolici. A tratti frutta gialla e mielosa. Ottimo corpo e perfetto equilibrio. ---Rated BY Italianbeer85

Bottle from Hop City Birmingham. Pours transparent gold with white head. Aroma of citrus, fruity and yeast. Tastes of passion fruits, bread and booze. Aftertaste of booze and a hint of bitter hops. Damn good beer.

Belle robe ambrée. Un belle bière, riche et puissante avec une finale assez amère mais équilibrée. Une bière bien faite mais assez simple dans le monde des trappistes

Bought Achel 8 bottle at the local Mitra store in NL. Refreshing beer for 8%abv. Appearance is a deep honey color that is appealing, and the head retention plus lacing is well above average. The aroma is pleasant, but not great for me. Taste is quite hoppy and a bit spicy with a slight bitter aftertone. Beer is very palatable for 8% and drinks easily- not boozy at all. Overall this is a very good trappist, but not my favorite blond/tripel. The flavors dont come out overly complex. For me, and there is no wow factor or uniqueness like ive had with other beers (e.g rochefort or st bernadus)

Bottle @ Le Poechenellekelder in Brussels. Pours golden with a dense white head. Hoppy aroma. Bready, fruity, some sweetness and a dry bitter finish. Well balanced. An excellent blonde. Paired well with tête pressée and cheese!

Currently I am updating my ratebeer with al the beers I drank but was too lazy to rate at the time. I give the scores I gave back than. If I drink the beers again I might re-rate them.
