Pours a cloudy ruby colour, with a small off white head. Aroma notes include dark fruits, figs, raisins, and toasty malts. Tasting notes include rich dark fruits like figs, dates, and black liquorice, rich toasted malts, and earthy yeast completes the Platte. Excellent!

hangunder (192) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 1, 2014
Nice caramel sweet aroma, with a hint of malt and biscuit. Dark brown and hazy, huge long lasting head. Tastes subdued but very well balanced, upfront get some caramel sweetness, malt and then to finish a hint of belgian yeast, alcohol and earthy hops. Not much fruit character here. Aggressively carbonated and medium bodied. A pretty good belgian strong, if slightly simple.

Frothmeister (524) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2014
330ml bottle. Pours a clear poppy red with a two finger creme coloured head. Beautiful. Aromas of brown sugar, earthy notes, alcohol, cherry candy, and amaretto. The taste is big with a LOT going on. Cherry, earthy notes, raisin, almond, mineral water, a very light balsamic note, with some light orange notes, a light taste of caramels, and hefeweizen-like notes (cloves, yeast) in the finish. Donít let the bland label fool you, this is anything but.

Desverger (1287) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 28, 2014
Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen - fuzzy dark amber to brown pour with slight reddish hue with medium beige head. Aroma and taste is caramel malty, toffee, brown sugar, slightly roasted, dark dried fruity (raisin), slight hops, spice. Decent enough

Bottle, about a year old. Pours dark mahogany with some clarity. Huge fluffy off-white head that stays around forever. Sticky lacing. Dried fig on the nose, raisin, caramel, faint woody notes, bubblegum, earth. Full mouthfeel, dark fruits, leather, cherry. Just strong enough, not cloying. This is as good as St. Bernardus Prior 8, and Rochefort 8.

Freaky_tiki (397) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 26, 2014
Pours mahogany with a rich one finger off-white cap. A frisky brew on the tongue with its tight carbonation & zesty yeast. Flavour is dried dark fruit, subtle candy & a dry white wine finish. This is my third Belgium strong brown ale of the week & it takes top honours of the group in my book.

sudomorph (378) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 25, 2014
330ml bottle. Pours a clear, dark caramel with a one finger, fluffy white head. Carbonation can be seen rising. Aroma is very nice. Candy sugar, dark fruits, slight bubblegum. Taste is a balanced sweet. Raisins, dark fruits, very slightly spice, candy sugar, and a mild bit of bitter on the finish. Really nice. Medium body with a medium-high carbonation. Pretty clean texture with an effervescent carbonation. Overall a really nice Trappist beer. Dark fruits and candy sugar with a great texture and mouth feel. Well worth getting again and again. Cheers!
