Alcohol sort of cut through on this one for me. Still a great example of a Belgian Dubbel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 neuromatt (610) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 22, 2010 This is a revision of my initial rating from 2010-07-09. 33 cL bottle at Bar Volo in Toronto, served in a snifter. Pours hazy mahogany with a tall, rocky tan head. Head has good retention and laces well. On the nose, notes of molasses, banana, grape, yeast, clove, pepper, alcohol, nuts and a faint hint of dust. Flavour is moderately honey sweet throughout. There is a very subtle hop bitterness towards the finish and a touch of sour in the background. The finish is moderate in length, dry and somewhat roasty. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a fairly dry texture and average carbonation. The finish is slightly astringent. Overall, this is a decent dubbel with a beautiful fruity aroma. It has a very nice complex malty sweetness. It is a bit dry for my taste in a dubbel, but I very much enjoyed it. 2010-08-21

Sweet sugary aroma with some banana and fusel alcohols. Foggy light brown under a big, beige cover. Sweet brown sugar flavour with plenty of tropical fruits, including banana. Low bitterness. Medium to high carbonation, sweet finish, light to medium body.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 erickok (802) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - JUL 6, 2010
Brown-red body with average carbonation and creme head. Malts of nuts, toast. Resin and leather in aroma as well. Not as sticky as some dubbels. Alcohol at the background. Long, nice aftertaste with bitterness and some sweetness. One of the best trappists. (Bottle 33cl, 2,15 EUR)
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 StormCoat (87) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 27, 2010
A tasty Trappist beer. I tried an 11 oz bottle from South Bay Drugs and Liquor in San Diego. Pours a hazy nut brown with a big, beige, fluffy foam head. Has a winey, fruity aroma. Nice flavors: rich fruity flavors carry a subtle sourness and are accompanied by yeast and roasted notes. A bit of vanilla in the finish and aftertaste. Very good!

Bottle from Alko
Hazy ruby beer and big foamy head. Sweet, quite typical belgy yeasty aroma is a bit alcoholic. Malty taste is pretty much the same. A decent trappist.
