Bottle. Dark brown colour with a huge tan head. Malty aroma with notes of plums, raisin and alcohol. The flavour is sweet and malty with some dried fruits, alcohol and spices. Medium-bodied and some bitterness in the finish.

durhambeer (2028) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Bottle from Sam’s. Pours cloudy brown with one-inch beige head that offers good lacing on the way down. Nose offers lovely yeast, tart summer fruits, dusty brown sugar, caramel, and unidentified spices. Both creamy and a little sour. Definitely some raisins and maybe a little bit of prune. Palate a bit prickly. Very good overall.

Frovigalning (1320) - Örebro, SWEDEN - SEP 20, 2009
It poured a dark hazy brown liquid with a white foam that lasted a long while. It had a strong smell of yeast, pepper and other spices. It had a smooth mouthfeel, and tasted of yeast, caramell and spices. It felt round and very well balanced. A very nice beer.

The look has a big foamy off white head and amber in color. The smell is spiced, fruits, yeast, and raisans. The taste is the same as the smell. Decent brew.

Ljunkan (521) - Drammen, NORWAY - SEP 9, 2009
Bottle at Bishops Arms. Pours a brown color with a mediumsized, remaining white head. Aroma is lightly vinous with berries, dried fruits, toffee and candy. Flavour is quite sweet and malty with lots of toffee/caramel, dried fruits, candy, and some light spices. Mediumbodied with quite lively carbonation, it corrodes (?) a bit on the tounge, and it’s lightly creamy. Nice beer, but not superb. Now, finally, I’ve tried beers from all trappist breweries.
