Color is brown with a hint of orange. Carbonation is good with a fluffy tight head. Aroma is a spicy malt scent. Taste is light and dry. Starting with a lighter medium body it goes down crisp with a fizzy feel. Finish comes in with a light malt flavor and just a hint of sweetness and a fruity yeast flavor. After taste is dry with a faint alcohol feel on the end that seems to grow. Overall its a nice brew, a bit lighter then you would expect, but still shows some good Belgian flavors.

Pours brown amber with thick white head. Bright, malty aroma with bread, yeast, and fruit. Highly carbonated. Flavor of cherries, malt, brown sugar. Very fruity. Pleasant.

Pours a hazy copper brown with a lot of sediment and a huge tan head. Interesting aroma of light yeast and fruit. Flavor is sweet malt all around, but dominated by cherries later on. Only a little bready Belgian yeast. Very fruity and sweet with a lasting finish of fruit and grain.

A good and fruity in the typical Belgian monestary style. Not overwhelming, but recommendable for most people who’s into that style.

Meatmallet (126) - Salem, Illinois, USA - FEB 20, 2009
Dark brown with a thick tan head. Lots of chunky sediment in the bottom of the glass.Smells of caramel, dates, rasins, and figs. Fairly sweet.Tastes like rasin and fuit with some caramel. The still frothy head disolves as you drink it. Sweet and a little bit bitter. Light chocolate taste in the end.

Pours a dark burgundy with a strong soapy head. Lots of carbonation, great lacing. Aroma of cherries, grapes, alcohol, and some spiciness. Medium body. Taste is first bitter with a slight bit of malt, followed by vinous mellowing sweetness in the finish. Very smooth. Not as complex as I would have thought but a worthy effort. Nice.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2009 Bottled 33cl. Appearance: It pours a nut brown beer with a huge rocky light beige head. Beautiful lacework. Good head retention. Aroma: Mince pies, raisins, brown sugar and maple syrup showing up. Very sweet and rich. Malty. Flavor and palate: Sweet, syrupy with hints of marshmallows and candy. Low carbonation. Hardly any bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Some plums appearing. Malty finish. Overall impression: A lot of marshmallow-characteristics. Far from being a great trappist beer. Simple, sweet and malt accentuated yet very pleasant.

Mahogany with a fizzy beige head. Nose has bread, raisin, and slight alcohol, but the main thing is fruit. Sweet, fruity flavor, some malt. Smooth palate, slightly watery, a little bitter. Good stuff, but when compared to bigger names, it comes up short.
