I just had this beer and i have to accept it’s absolutely one of the best beers I ever tasted. Only the Sint Bernardus 12 seems to be close. The taste is very full and has a kind of wooden taste. The Westvleteren 8 is absolutely more fruity, but less exceptionnal. I absolutely recommend the beer and the website that helped me to get the beer for a good price (even if i don’t know if this is allowed in my review: http://westvleteren12.webs.com/ ) Enjoye

Pours dark reddish brown haze colour with creamy light brown head which dissapeared in a few minutes. Carbonation is medium. Aroma without notice of an alcohol but with lot of fruity esters (dark fruits like plums, hints of pear, grape etc.) Flavor: alcohol note is mild to medium, taste is firstly sweet, with fruity notes (esters of plums, pear, grape, hints of strawberry) with hints of different spices (coriander prevails). But at the same time you can also notice floral elements (saaz hop), hints of candy sugar and some liqueric notes. Malt sweetness is medium, hop bitterness is also medium and they are very well balanced. Body is soft / sticky, finish is Dry, mild bitter.

330 ml bottle. Pours a murky brown with a reddish hue and a huge, long lasting, tan head that laces. Aroma of Belgian yeast, caramel malt and yeast. Sweet malty flavour of dried fruit, caramel and yeast with a dry, alcohol finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Good but lacks the complexity to compete with other Trappists.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a Duvel glass. Pours a slightly hazy brown with a nice big light tan head that hangs around throughout. Nose has dark fruit, caramel, toffee and molasses. Taste is more of the same. Average carbonation with a medium body. Very solid beer. Nice warming finish that lingers a bit.

0,33l bottle from belgiuminabox, bottled in May 2014 (one year old). Clear, deep red with a medium large, creamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Fruity-malty aroma of redcurrant, raisins, cranberries, a bit of toffee and cane sugar. Sweet, fruity-malty taste of raisins, figs, dates, toffee, banana and cloves, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter and gently warming finish with notes of dark chocolate and nuts. Medium to full body, very creamy mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Wonderfully complex and tasty, so creamy and the alcohol well hidden. Only the nose is a bit weak. Great!

Aroma a melocotón, uva y azúcar tostada. Magnifico cuerpo con textura muy cremosa. Gran combinación de matices, frutales y dulces.
