Bottle from AV3, pours an amber color with a big fluffy white head. Aroma of nuts, grain and dark fruit. Taste is some dark fruit, light caramel, finishes with a little booze. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a good-looking, clear, very dark copper body with a quite large, light brown head that’s creamy and fairly long-lived. Good lacing. The aroma is sweet and quite strong, with mainly dark dried fruits and sweet caramel. Simple but pleasant. Moderate sweet and light bitter taste. Quite strong flavours with caramel, dark dried fruits, alcohol and a touch of vanilla. Feels a bit sugary. The carbonation starts out rather lively, but as the fizziness decreases the texture gets creamy and pleasant. Medium body. A good one.

Dark brown, a lot of carbonation. Well balanced beer between sweet and bitter. Fruity aroma with notes of caramel and dark chocolate. Good trappist beer.

Serving: 330 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a medium brown with a frothy light tan head. The nose has notes of dried fruit, dark caramel, and a touch of bread. The flavor starts off slightly sweet with nice caramel, candied apple, fig, and yeast notes. The finish leans toward the drier side with an almost chalky mouthfeel. Solid, but not the best example of the style I’ve tasted.

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear chestnut brown with honey colored highlights and a fluffy beige head. Aroma is fairly light, but I pick up some plum, raisin, apple, spun sugar and cinnamon. The taste starts out with fresh apple, before a dark caramel and spice hit in the mid-palate. Light citrus, spice, ginger and raisin at the back. Sweetish finish with lemon and spice in the aftertaste. Alcohol - 8% abv - is well integrated. Delicious and quite interesting.

A reddish brown color with lots of head. The aroma and taste are typical to a dark complex Belgian trappist beer. There’s a lot of carbonation with some hints of alcohol peeking in towards the end of the glass. I bet this could soften up with some aging.

Brown. Some frizzy tan head. Malt nose. Raisin, malt, belgian style yeast, alcohol, red fruit aroma. Sweet. Needs to be served at over 10 degrees Celsius.

Bottle from the Boudewijn,Rotterdam. Poured a deep reddish brown with a thin off-white head. The aroma is clean crisp and yeasty, leading to a strong bitter, medium liqourice, yeasty flavour. Typical Trappist really. Very tasty and packed with flavours.

Head: beige, big, frothy, good retention. Colour: mahogany, opaque. Aroma: caramel, dried fruit, roasty, spicy, quite some alcohol. Taste: sweet, caramel, fruit, bitterness (roasted or yeast?), spicy/peppery, alcohol. A bit disappointing. Sort of a dubbel on steroids: too sweet, brutal and alcoholic.
