Sabores e aromas complexos. Arma típico de cerveja trapista, sabor um pouco açucarado e maltes caramelos. Não se percebe o álcool. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured in a Grimbergen chalice. Taking this one just after the Achel Blond. I was expecting a Belgian Strong Dark Ale but itís a Dubbel! :) Nevertheless, it has a very nice appearance and itís probably the best Dubble Iíve ever had. A: Dark Amber color, just a bit cloudy. Thick and creamy head. S: Sweetish. Aroma of spices, malts, caramel, yeast. T: Brown malts, caramel, and sweet bread with some smooth bitterings from the hops (sweet spices and dark fruits?). M: Long aftertaste. Could feel more the 8% ABV here, if compared with the Blond. D: Again, a very a discrete Trappist but not underrated at all. Remarkable. [ BA Review @ 11/12/2009 ]

Een erg rijk bier. Hoewel het donker is, is het niet zwaar. Een fruitige afdronk en gebrande mout.Lichte schuimkraag.

Bottle 33cl. Brown colour with lots of light brown head. Aroma has sweetness like sugar or caramel. Some alcohol too. Thereís a sweetness in the taste, but itís also a bit spicy. Quite good.

Aroma is of fruit, malt and burnt sugar. 33 cl bottle pours with a huge head which settles nicely. Red-brown in colour. Taste is fruit, malt and sugary sweetness, with a bitterness coming through. Full bodied with a rich almost sticky texture. Average carbonation and a bitter finish with some warming alcohol. Overall a great beer, and despite itís strength, one that can easily lead to another.

"mostly caramel and a lot of dark fruit greet your nose. a little extra sweet in the flavor, though it finishes dry and spicy. Liked this just a touch better than the Extra (which I think was the more expensive by far). A little prickly, but not overly so. Nice lingering candy sugar/spice finish."

Chestnut brown with a grey brown medium top that lingers. Some plum, leather, candi sugar, malt. Not as complex as other trappist beers, more closed. Medium finish, dry nut at first, then sweeter
