Brown Orval. The first thing of note is the sour Brett aroma pouring from the ever-expanding head of this beer. This is a very light brown and demonstrates the difference between bruin and brown, nice color, crystal clear. Some very mellow malt flavors, a little more hops here than I would have expected. But there it is, the reason why I love belgians, the bugs -- brett, brett, brett. Truly a wonderful beer.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Has the standard fruit/caramel Belgian overtone with a nice heavy malty composition.

Body dark and coffee. Slight head. Nose is sweet and fruity. Lots of taste. Full-bodied. Alcy in the finish.

11.2 oz. bottle from Wilburís. Appearance: finger tan head, amber-brown to ruby color, clear, ok lacing. Aroma: light prune, slight anise aroma, floral hops, light grassiness, caramel. Palate: medium body, average carbonation, slightly dry finish, light alcohol warming sensation. Taste: sweet caramel with prune and cherry notes that are very well balanced out by a slight grassy and floral hop character, with an alcoholic warming finish. Overall, super smooth, very desirable tastes and aromas, amazing beer.

Bottle at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. Muddy light chocolate †colour with a small creamy khaki head. Berries, chocolate, a touch of cedar. Full sweet taste with a bitter/sour vinous coat. Delicious bittersweet finish. Of course itís good, but not my favourite Trappist Dubbel.

I really love the blond but this is way too sweet. Interesting plum, dry fruits flavours though.

Really smooth, sweet and malty beer with hints of fruit and nut. Very pleasant silky feel in the mouth, flavours didnít come through quite as strongly as I was expecting though. Still an excellent beer.

It looks like red ale from a Rocky Mtn brewery, but it packs a full flavor that is classic Trappist bier-brewing. So damn good and I'd say a top 5'er for me

One of the best Belgium beers Iíve tasted. A deep multi layered malt flavour that lingers . A world class beer.
