3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pretty good but not in the league of Rochefort or Westvleteren. Itís a little bit "hot" but not so much so as the regular 8. It lacks the caramel plum smoothness of the much stronger, previously mentioned beers. This one tastes like 12% where the others taste more like this beerís 8%. It does have a nice warming effect though. Overall a good beer but not as much so when I can buy Rochefort 10 for the same price.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours clear amber-brown with one finger of rocky light tan head, excellent retention, moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is mild dark stone fruit, brown sugar and toffee malt, faint spice. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, mild bitter. (7/10) Medium to light body, moderate sustained carbonation, warming finish. (4/5)
Pleasantly mild trappist with a fairly light body and an immediate (but not unwelcome) warming. Lots of dark fruit and dark sugar, with just a hint of spice. My only complaint about this one is that, if anything, itís too mild - to the point of being just a touch bland. The nose is fairly muted, and the taste and body are light. Itís impressive that such a high ABV beer can pull off such a mild appearance, sure, but it might have benefited from a bit more authority. (12/20)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Birra color castagna con una bella testa beige. Odore di liquirizia, castagne e prugne, un poí di affumicato. In bocca lo stesso sapore, carbonatazione bella presente, con il retrogusto molto affumicato specie sul finale. Consistenza pastosa, piena. Buonissima birra.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

Hazy, brown. Average head. Fairly regular aroma. Medium body, average carbonation. Rich bitter and sweet taste. Looks like the Achel 5 variant, but tastes a lot better.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured in a Grimbergen chalice.
Taking this one just after the Achel Blond. I was expecting a Belgian Strong Dark Ale but itís a Dubbel! :) Nevertheless, it has a very nice appearance and itís probably the best Dubble Iíve ever had.
A: Dark Amber color, just a bit cloudy. Thick and creamy head.
S: Sweetish. Aroma of spices, malts, caramel, yeast.
T: Brown malts, caramel, and sweet bread with some smooth bitterings from the hops (sweet spices and dark fruits?).
M: Long aftertaste. Could feel more the 8% ABV here, if compared with the Blond.
D: Again, a very a discrete Trappist but not underrated at all. Remarkable.
