3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours amber-orange with a fair head that dissapates quickly into a little lacing. Aroma is a bit odd; a bit musky, and a bit more hoppy than some Belgian strongs I've had. The fruits are apparent in the aroma as well, some being apricot and a bit of plum as well. Kind of odd as I'm getting more hops than malt. The Belgian characteristics are there as well, I'm getting a bit of fruit (plums and apricots again.) The whole expierence was strange, as I thought of this as a Belgiany Pale ale. I don't know. I'm done.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Colour: coffee brown with a copper glow. Slim beige head
Nose: roasted malts, caramel, pure chocolate. Grains and toast
Flavours: Cappucino sweetness, bitter chocolate. Alcoholic undertones. Dark bread
Finish: bittersweet, alcoholic, earthy. Medium long.
Verdict: really nice Trappist bruin, but I prefer the blond over this any day

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

Assez subtile.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber / mahogany with large beige head. Nose brings out dark fruits, various spices, a little toffee, and Belgian yeast. Flavour is similar, with beautiful notes of caramel, dark fruits, spices (coriander), and Belgian yeast. Extremely well-balanced and crafted. This is one of those Belgian Strongs you could drink litres of. Most excellent stuff.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Brown body with a frothy khaki head. Nice fine bubbles that leave a stringy mountain range of lacing. Amazing head retention. The aroma is strong rum-raisin, toffee, slight roast, very mellow fruit esters, and a touch of phenol. Some light ethanol comes through as well. The flavor has a strong chocolate character, start to finish. There is some resemblance to the aroma, but the chocolate stands out. The finish is fairly balanced, and the alcohol is well hidden. Reminds me of a Rochefort 8, but with a little more sweetness and yeast character, not as much earthiness. Light bodied, with very soft, plentiful carbonation. I regret not trying this sooner.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle from appellation wines. Pours hazy red-brown with a good white had, nice lacing. Aromas are plums, ginger biscuit, and appley booze. Taste has quite a sweet note, but balances well against the yeasty spice. Smooth, creamy, average carbonation, finishes long. Classic Belgian strong.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Enjoyed at Brothers Beer Bistro in Ottawa, ON. Pours a hazy amber-brown colour with a beige head, decent retention and a creamy outside of sticky lace. Sweet aromas of fruits (dates mostly) and caramel malts. Belgian Ale yeast does come out with time. Apple taste with sweet malts giving caramel notes. A little bitterness in the finish creating some dryness, but very mild. Nutty hints with the yeast. The alcohol is well-hidden. Overall, starts off mild, but get much better as it breathes. Slightly on the sweet side, but good.

Bottle. Murky Brown with a tall, cream coloured head. A touch of roasted malt and lots of canied fruit character. Stewed plums and dates. Candy apple. It’s got a lovely light bitterness to finish which plays well with the caramel sweetness. Nice level of complexity.
