3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BelgBeerGeek (1031) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 4, 2012
Head: almost none , white
Colour: gold/clear
Smell: malts, sweet, little yeasty, bit of hops
Taste: tipical sweet malty flavour of a original Abbey Tripel , but this one packs a bit more punch on the alcohol flavour , and is also a bit sweeter...
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JAN 8, 2012
Bottle from the abbey during our recent trip to Belgium. Served in a Trappist Achel glass.
ours a clear golden-yellow with a nice white head. Light lacing and a thin collar throughout. The nose brings some clove and fairly-strong alcohol. Surprisingly (and happily) the flavor doesn’t have any alcohol at all. Good clove character and light bubblegum. A bit of sweetness and mild fruit. Body is medium with good carbonation and a strong yeast presence. Good clove and spice. Overall, quite tasty and a very nice tripel.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 7, 2011
(Bottled, 0.75l, rated 2010-09-19) Hazy golden-amber with a small, firm and lasting head. Mild, wheaty and fruity aroma with orange-peel, touch of honey and pale malt. Flavor is peachy-orangey-fruity and slightly grainy-alcoholic, with perfumy-aromatic hops, yeast, and hints of strawberry. Quite full body, warming palate, foamy CO2, rather a slow sipper than refreshing. The 8 was more Hefeweizen-like, but this is like a strong Blond-Weizenbock hybrid, with a touch of sweet Stille Nacht graininess. Not much hop bite or refreshing elements here, though, so for now I prefer the regular Blond.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 77ships (957) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - AUG 21, 2011
bottle@GBF 2011: hazy orange with a white head, smell is slightly citric hop with some tropical fruits, taste is substantial bitter hop (which plains the main role) with some slight malt underneath coupled with minor fruits (peach & tropical), spice comes to play strongly in the aftertaste, bitter spunky aftertaste, light with substantial carbonation, much better than the regular Achel Blond
