COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Before Countless British soldiers died in the trenches of Belgium in World War I, they managed to pass on to the Belgians a taste for wonderful British ale. Shortly afterward, in the 1920s, the Belgians began making pale ale themselves-with the intriguing addition of a spicy, fruity, almost perfumed aroma that comes not from spices but a special Belgian yeast. This one from the tiny one man brewery Achilles is a classic Belgian Pale Ale, for everyday drinking.

750 ml. Hazy amber body. Short, fizzy, off-white white head, rapidly diminishing. Fruity, floral, perfumey aroma with notes of caramel and toasted grain. Subdued aroma. The flavor is lighlty to moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately bitter, lightly to moderately acidic and lightly sweet. Medium body with a thin, watery texture and fizzy carbonation. Unpleasant mouthfeel. Slightly laquerish finish along with some tartness. Average in every category which adds up to disappointing.

7/9/10. 750mL bottle shared by Lance at Proof! Not bad. Bready and malty aroma with a nice lingering citrus finish.

750 ml bottle poured a clear tarnished copper with a large lasting light amber head. Aromas of cookie, fruittiness and yeast. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of cookie, fruittiness, yeast, light earthiness and a hint of spice with a crisp finish.

Bottle… Cloudy amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. The bouquet offers herbal hops and restrained toffee malt. Medium to full-bodied with middle-of-the-road carbonation. Balanced well. Toffee sweetness is layered between hop bitterness and phenolic, wild grain spiciness. The bittersweet finish is herbal and a touch medicinal.

Pours amber with thick, fluffy white head.  Aroma of yeast and stale beer.  Taste has light bitterness.  Medium mouthfeel.  Mild spices with Belgian yeast finish. It was ok but the aroma took away from the enjoyment of the beer.

Pour is murky deep orangey amber with a thin tight bubbled skin of a white head...smell is indeed fruity and perfumey with some light and faint biscuity sweet notes too...hints of must...taste is fairly sweet with stale bread flavors and some faintly spiced clove and coriander and black pepper...light coppery flavored bitterness in the finish...quick and a tad thin...this is really close to being quite delicious...I’d love to try a brett version.
