This dark brown Serafijn has a spicey herbal character and a soft bitterness. The Achilles brewery has a unique way of achieving an even heating of the wort: using no direct flame or steam, the wort is pumped through a spiral that sits in a tub of hot water!

diabel (1645) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - JUN 5, 2006
Bottle, BBE March 2007 Frothy, light brown head, but the frothiness is rather nice. Reminds me a bit of cobwebs. Clear, deep brown (with a reddish shine) body. Soapy aroma of hops. Remarkable absence of malts as one would guess to smell when drinking a deep brown beer. Lightly bitter and sweet in the beginning. Smoothening out to the end (lightly bitter and sweet). Rather nice flavour.

Bottle, Københavnske Øldage 2006. Dark brown. Clear. Sweet black currant aroma. Some yeasty flavours even though the beer is clear. Raisins and candy sugar. Hops are there, but play second violin behind the malts and the sugars.

Bottle. Light brown long lasting high head. Unclear dark red body. Aroma of raspberries. Cocoa butter flavor, pleasant bitternes and a fair amount of carbon dioxide making the beer ticklish.

Dark amber with a frothy white head. Malty aroma with some sourness, perhaps orange. Rather too much carbonation, but a pleasant sweet malt taste with a bitter finish.

Deep reddish colour with a dense tan head. Malty, dark fruit sweet aroma with a light alcohol note. Malty, light roasted flavor with a fruity sweetness and a faint chocolate note.

sayravai (4700) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 21, 2006
Very hazy reddish amber color with a lemonadey, medium head. Sweet, rye-puddingy aroma with toffee and caramel. The flavor is rye pudding with maple syrup, plus some hops. Medium to full-bodied with lemonadey, high and foamy carbonation. In the very edge of being way too sugary and lemonadey. Not very balanced, for sure. Clearly a microbrewery product, but not a very pleasant one.

Cloudy brown color. Raspberries, apples, oranges, flowery nose. Smooth, creamy mouth of chocolate raspberry juice. Sweet velvty finish. WOW this beer was really rounded. Very drinkable. Another great random find.

Sten (713) - Westerlo, BELGIUM - JAN 29, 2006
A dark beer with a brownish head. Like all other beers from achilles a lot of corbonation, so it is very acidic in the aroma and taste. The aroma is also sweet. The taste has hints of caramel. (Bottlle 33cl)

Storm (2684) - Amager, DENMARK - JAN 5, 2006
33 cl bottle. No yeast at the bottom. Amber colour with a great fluffy head. Aroma of dried fruit, light sweetness and some spice. Flavour of roasted malt, spice and ends up with a hint of mettalic.
