COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An epic brew from Achilles, a red-brown rich and malty masterpiece with just a dash of hoppy bitterness for balance.

Pours a transparent copper orange with a stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty Belgian caramely malt with a touch of light fruity esters. Body starts very effervescent and semi-sweet with some caramely notes before a drier, more bitter finish. Needs more body and complexity.

Ratman197 (9454) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 5, 2008
750 ml bottle poured a clear amber with a lasting light amber head. Aromas of fruittiness, light carmel, yeast and light spice. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, light fruittiness and a hint of spice with a smooth lightly sweet finish.
Not to impressive considering the term "Grand Cru" generally means the brewers best offering.

Draught @ <a href=http://ratebeer.com/events-detail.asp?eventID target=_new> Zythos Bier Festival 2008, Sint Niklaas, Belgium. Unclear orange color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, toasted, fruity, moderate hoppy, moderate yeasty, light banana. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (010308)

Pours a sparkling clear, orangey-amber color with a full, off-white, creamy-fluffy, mostly lasting head; a bit clear for a grand cru but nevertheless, appealing. Nose is faint and uninviting; dark candi sugar, dates, bready yeast, and some faint hints at dried apricot. Flavor is bolder than the nose led on; dark candi sugar, dried apricots, lightly toasted sweet bread yeasty notes, and a mild citric note. Faint hints at herbal hops near the finish bring a low bitterness, which is fine since the sweetness is not too high. Palate is medium, lightly chewy but watery, and lively. Finishes average length with sweet notes disappating leaving warmth, some yeasty notes and mild bitter notes. Fairly simple BSA with no malt depth to support the warmth and lacking the rich character to be considered a grand cru. Complexity was minimal, but still was a fairly drinkable beer.

DocLock (7703) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2008
Pours turbid dull tan with 3-fingers of off-white head. Nose is dark fruit, honey, hops, spicy yeast, and mild florals. Tastes fruity, withy yeasty spiciness, malt, some funk, apricot, citrus, and more honey flavor as it warms. It isn’t really fruity enough to be a great grand cru, and this one tastes very similar to the serafijn dubbel.

ABUSEDGOAT (2323) - California, USA - MAR 19, 2008
Hazy orange, large head with good lacing and retention. Aroma is sugary with notes of oranges, yeast, grass, some basement. Medium bodied, quite sweet, a tinge of alcohol in the finish. Decent I guess.

jefcon (1359) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAR 18, 2008
LIght in color and pretty in the glass. There is a lot of brut champagne on this beer. Plenty of delicate fruit on the nose, but terribly light scent. On the tongue, bright alcohol, slick palate and drying finish. Sour fruits and light caramel malt.

ZBF08. Clear amber colour. Big stable creamy tan head. Sweet flavour, some alcohol, a little phenols. Sweet and malty after a while, tastes a bit strong. Low to medium carbonation.
