Pours turbid dull tan with 3-fingers of off-white head. Nose is dark fruit, honey, hops, spicy yeast, and mild florals. Tastes fruity, withy yeasty spiciness, malt, some funk, apricot, citrus, and more honey flavor as it warms. It isn’t really fruity enough to be a great grand cru, and this one tastes very similar to the serafijn dubbel.

Aug 26, 2008 Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Pours a clear copper color with a good yellow/white head. Sweet aromas of candied lighter stone fruits. Medium body with coarse carbonation. The flavor is not all that sweet, seems slightly bitter, and lightly spicy. A very tasty ale.

Aug 14, 2008 Bottled. Slight hazy orange color, short frothy head. Aroma of caramel malt, some raisin, slight alcohol, bit orange. Big malty body, slight spicy, orange, slight alcohol. Quite nice.

Jun 9, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, orangey body with a medium-sized, dense, off-white head.
Smell: A touch of lemon, more than a touch of orange. Also notes of orange blossom honey, light caramel, and yeast (though only everso slightly).
Taste: Light caramel and honeyed maltiness with a medium sweetness. Small pinch of lemon zest. A full helping of orange oil. Slight yeast character. Restrained bitterness. A bit peppery near the end. Lingering orangey taste on the drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Well carbonated.
Drinkability: Oh, it’s not so bad, really, though it could stand to use a greater depth of malt character.

May 31, 2008 An orange appearance with a carbonated white head. The aroma reminds me of fruit cake with some spices, dark fruit, and orange peel. The flavor contains some peaches, apricot, oranges, and spices. The mouthfeel is a bit sugary and carbonated. Overall I really enjoyed this beer.
