Commercial Description:
A picture perfect Belgian Tripel. A pale blond brew, lightly malty with a notable, hoppy bitter finish. Clean, bracing, and remarkably refreshing for an ale of weight and character. Why do they call this kind of beer Tripel? No one knows. Just enjoy.

Caramel copper poor with little or no head. Aromas of banans puree and unknown spices. Added flavors of pepper, orange peelings and notes of cork and ice wine without the apple. Medium bitterness with a dry finish.

Bottle @ YNWA, Kolding.
Pours muddy yellowish with a big, frothy, white head with big bubbles. Lots of small floaties in the liquid. Aroma is yeasty, some oranges, citrus, coriander and a great flowery edge. High carbonation, okay mouthfeel. Flavour is soft fruity, oranges, melons. Weak metallic off-note and a good, dry finish. Good tripel, but not spectacular.

Bottle, 8%. Very yeasty aroma, like baking yeast. There is also some sweet light malts and alcohol in the aroma. Hazy golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is sweet, malty and alcoholic in good balance. Has a little yeast in the aftertaste, and otherwise a good, warming alcohol note.

75cl bottle from Habersham Liquors (Savannah, GA). Pours a hazy golden caramel color with a one finger white head that laces the glass. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, honey, grass, straw, earthy, bread and yeast. Flavor is much of the same with primarily yeast, bread and malty sweetness on the palate. Somewhat watery mouthfeel with a quick, unremarkable finish.

In short: Tasty average tripel. Fruity, rather sweet but also very hoppy. Dry and citric. Good one
How: Bottle, 330ml, probably over 6 months old
The look: Cloudy yellow-blonde body with a medium white head
In long: Quite a bit of residual candy sugar in there but this is well balanced by a generous amount of Saaz-like dry grassy hops as well as citric lemony hops. Some mangos and pears in between. Nice dry and citric bitterness. An overall fresh and crisp feeling despite being a sweet strong Belgian ale and not very fresh. More juicy as it warmed up. This was quite a pleasant surprise. I had low expectations about this unknown low-rated beer but it turned out to be a very acceptable Tripel. Like I told all girls I’ve ever blind-dated, lowering your expectations is a excellent way to be pleasantly surprised.
