COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Acme IPA is profoundly hoppy, finished with over a pound of fresh whole hops per barrel. The result of this generous hopping is a beer that is deliciously dry, and eminently drinkable in spite of its apparent strength.

Bottled. Golden with a fruity, flowery apricot-aroma. Bitter, fruity and bitter from grapefruits.

(12 oz bottle: Trader Joe’s in Pacific Beach, CA) This is a somewhat pedestrian IPA, not tremendously flavorful, but it’s pleasant enough to be a okay session IPA. Moderate malty character is lightly bready and is matched by a moderately bitter and citrusy hoppiness, and the two stay in balance from start to finish. The finish tastes a bit like unsweetened ice tea. Not a whole lot of aromas to this beer, but it’s mildly bready and hoppy. Medium bodied. Light golden color and somewhat cloudy. Plenty of off-white head during the pour, and thanks to significant assistance from rapidly rising carbonation bubbles, retention is pretty solid, maintaining a nice cap on the beer. Patchy lacing is also pretty decent.

Hazy golden, white creamy head. Uninspired nose of citrus, florals, toffee, with some light bready notes. Well bittered and decently balanced with the sweet malt. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying bitter finish. Don’t go out of your way....

Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 19, 2004
Appearance: clear, deep orange hue, with a full, frothy white head. Aroma: big hops, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, large fruit in the nose, very enticing and inviting. On the palate, smooth, and very mellow, without too much tumult on the tongue. Solid body, excellent balance, and possessing a very nice flavor which lasts and lasts, persisting on the palate. Yum, yum. I was hoping for a hoppier bite, and had to realize that a good IPA doesn’t have to be a Ruination or Dreadnaught. Sometimes, they can "just" be smooth and delcious, like this one.

Unexpectedly smoother than it brown ale counterpart. Not as hoppy as I anticipated. Outdoorsy aroma, citrus undertones int he taste. Not so bad.

TChrome (1432) - Bedford, Texas, USA - DEC 12, 2004
Aroma is hoppy but in a rather restrained way by todays IPA standards. Some citrus and caramel in the nose. Pours cloudy light orange with a very well retained off white head. The flavor is hoppy with some malt balance, but again there is just not a big enough hop bite to make this an IPA winner. Call me spoiled, but pass the AleSmith.

Silphium (3188) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 6, 2004
Slightly hazy straw-colored body, thin clumping off-white head. Citrus and pine hops aroma with some caramel. Nice fresh piney and earthy hops flavor with touches of citrus rind. Enough sweet caramely malts and biscuit to balance the fresh hops. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Not too shabby.

Hoppy citrus aroma, along with some floral notes. Light orange with thin head. Decent hop flavour and a decent bitterness to the lingering finish. Not great, but enjoyably drinkable.

(Bottle) Sampled at Maxfields in Potsdam, NY. Hardly an IPA nose. More of the Hi-C flavour than I first encountered with the aroma. A fairly bitter finish. Good.

Lubiere (10734) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 12, 2004
Bottled at Maxfields, Potsdam NY. Light hops and malts in a hazy golden ale. Fresh malt and intense citrusy hops, lingering in the mouth, but not resinous as would be expected in the C-hops. A littrle overbearing. Medium bodied.
