Acme IPA is profoundly hoppy, finished with over a pound of fresh whole hops per barrel. The result of this generous hopping is a beer that is deliciously dry, and eminently drinkable in spite of its apparent strength.

Crystal clear golden brew. Medium-sized, fizzy, enamel head. Quickly, but not fully dissipating. Very good lacework. The aroma is of pine, black pepper, spruce, fir, apricot, butterscotch and cheap, watered-down perfume. Very nice IPA aroma. Bitter, metallic flavor. Heavily-hopped, attention grabbing IPA. Bitter as hell. Cloyingly so. Some evergreen presence, but mostly just bitter and metallic. Much like biting into a grapefruit rind. Not my thing at all. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy and, you guessed it, bitter finish. This brew looks good and smells nice, but is overdone with bitter hops. Die-hard HopHeads may love this brew. I like IPAs, but not this one. Uncreative and overblown. A lack of any real substance is unsuccessfully cloaked by bitterness. If not for the nice aroma and appearance, I would rate this right along with Pabst or Budweiser. Someone order me a HopDevil, Poseiden, DreadNaught or Stoudt's!

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2003 Medium golden pour, creamy white head mostly diminishes to ok lacing. Aroma is light, mildly hoppy, some caramel, and some rice krispie cereal, too. Flavor starts with the caramel, some of the cereal sneaks in, middle and end has medium hoppiness to it, and then some metallic tang comes into play. Light-medium body, long lasting bitter end, but the metallic tang is also sticking around.

This beer killed my streak of drinking good beers. I'm shocked at the high rating. Perhaps a bad six pack? Very reminiscent of an early homebrew attempt. Unbalanced, lingering bitter aftertaste. Aroma lacking the fruity/floral qualities I love in an IPA or APA.

Tap@ brewery. Why is everything there on nitro? It dulls the flavor and the hoppiness. Well, this beer was color of lemon grass and could have been a lot better unfiltered and off a regular tap.

This is a very good IPA. Not as bitter and snappy as Lagunitas which I really enjoy, but I thought Ballentine IPA was the best.

Pale golden amber. Sticky off-white head. Stinky pale malty nose. Lots of carbonation, pale malts first, light bodied, finishes spicy, big bitter hop bite. Drinkable, the alcohol is hidden.

Slightly disappointing. This brew did not live up to its rep. That said, there is a lot to like about it. First of all, a thick white head sits on a nice golden pour. Strong hops aroma, another good thing. Then there is the taste shock. Yes it is 7.1%, and yes it is well hidden by the hops, but there is an old chemical taste (almost pine sol) when all is said and done. Not what they were aiming for. Everything else about this ale is good.

Orangish gold in color with a small head that sticks to the glass. Light bitterness, dry, smooth and citrusy.

Medium yellow/gold with a 1 finger head. Light aroma doesn't give away the hops too much. Balanced on the hops side, sweet malt is there but there seems to be a piney hop that sticks out, although I am not having a problem with it. Overall a decent IPA I would have again.
