COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ACME CALIFORNIA PALE ALE is a smooth, clean ale with faint citrus and honey flavor notes and a dry finish. It is brewed with Yakima Valley hops and the finest American two-row malt, but with a measure of British specialty malt for depth. This easy drinking pale ale is a "session beer" which will be welcomed at neighborhood taverns and restaurants (and refrigerators) throughout the west.

12 oz bottle to shaker. Appearance: Light gold, decent white head, clear. Aroma: Faint. Some citrus. Otherwise leaves almost no impression on me – I don’t have a cold, do I? Flavor: So faint it’s really hard for me to tell. I get some grain and a mildly hop-bitter finish. Palate: Light/thin body, medium carbonation. Dry finish. Overall: I’m having a hard time with this. On the one hand I think this beer achieves what it purports to (it is indeed smooth, clean, and sessionable as the commercial description claims), and I could see times where this would be exactly the right beer for the moment. On the other hand those are moments when I don’t particularly want to think about, taste, savor, or enjoy the beverage – those times where I want to go to a pub with friends and order a few pints of something that is cool, drinkable, utterly unobtrusive and forgettable, when I would be just as happy ordering water if water contained alcohol. And it’s hard to give an overall impression of a beer that seems best suited to make no impression at all.

Amber colour, modest head. Grassy hoppiness and some caramel, but only mildly. Bland taste that dissipates quickly. Better as "session beer" than most lagers, though.

Bottle from Plonk. Very unexciting beer, tasted almost stale, wet cardboard, no hop aroma. Disappointing after some of their others.

Pours light amber with a white head. Nose of hay, sweet malts. Faint aroma of sweet malts and caramel. Pretty bland, light body, thin mouth feel.

Moderate sweet whiskey aroma. Hazy orange color with a medium white head. Mild better beginning that fades kinda slow and gets sweet in the finish.

Pours deep gold with light white head. Has the aroma of a little citrus and a bit of caramel. Has pretty good body and is malt forward for an american pale. Caramel and orange notes are present. Grassy and citrus hop character. I enjoyed the pleasant and soft bitter finish. Overall a decent affordable session pale ale with decent balance.

330ml bottle. An orange-gold beer with a just off white head that persists and laces the glass. Aroma is dominated by simple honey malts with subtle citrus hop notes (oranges mainly). Palate is malty with a nice smooth mouthfeel and easy carbonation. Mild dry finish. The product description is accurate for this easy drinking APA.

Might be an old bottle. Cardboardy. No sign of hops. Caramally malt. A pretty insipid pale ale.
