ACME CALIFORNIA PALE ALE is a smooth, clean ale with faint citrus and honey flavor notes and a dry finish. It is brewed with Yakima Valley hops and the finest American two-row malt, but with a measure of British specialty malt for depth. This easy drinking pale ale is a "session beer" which will be welcomed at neighborhood taverns and restaurants (and refrigerators) throughout the west.

12 oz bottle to shaker. Appearance: Light gold, decent white head, clear. Aroma: Faint. Some citrus. Otherwise leaves almost no impression on me – I don’t have a cold, do I? Flavor: So faint it’s really hard for me to tell. I get some grain and a mildly hop-bitter finish. Palate: Light/thin body, medium carbonation. Dry finish. Overall: I’m having a hard time with this. On the one hand I think this beer achieves what it purports to (it is indeed smooth, clean, and sessionable as the commercial description claims), and I could see times where this would be exactly the right beer for the moment. On the other hand those are moments when I don’t particularly want to think about, taste, savor, or enjoy the beverage – those times where I want to go to a pub with friends and order a few pints of something that is cool, drinkable, utterly unobtrusive and forgettable, when I would be just as happy ordering water if water contained alcohol. And it’s hard to give an overall impression of a beer that seems best suited to make no impression at all.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours orangish with a off white head. Taste sweet, grassy, caramel. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not sure what keeps happening to my older reviews, but this is a good one...better than their IPA actually.

Bottles from Rehills, Newcastle and Safeway, Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco. Dark golden coloured with a sweet toffee and gentle orange flavour followed by a light grassy and sugary almond-like finish. This is more a Steam Beer than a Pale Ale.

Rated based on notes taken 17 Jul 2011 -- Nice Clean palate, Nothing exceptional though. As it warmed the caramel flavors started shining through.

Bright clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light dry and criisp. Lagerish pale malts. Virtually no hops here. Poor.

Draft at Churchkey. A pretty middle-of-the-road pale ale. Not bad, just not too exciting.

Pours a golden amber color with an off white head. Nicely carbonate although it comes off as somewhat flat on the palate. Aroma is sweet malt and honey, with a piney minty possible formerly resinous note. There is no way this is fresh, sad to say. With no date though, its impossible to know. Taste is sweet, honey, malt, slight bitter finish and maybe a trace of hops from the past. Not fresh, remember this being better...nice body though for 5% ABV.
