EHopper (80), Minnesota, USA Mar 22, 2008 Color and head looks like cream soda. The sourish odor as you approach lets you know it’s not. Has a surprising, smooth flavor without any unpleasantness.
unclemattie (1490), Georgia, USA Jun 29, 2008 short 12oz bottle. Pours a perfectly pale golden color, with a white froathy head. Aroma is of pale malts, spruce. Flavor is rich, crreamy, caramel malt. Finishes with a nice hop bitterness. Lingering bitterness. Top beer for this top style. dkachur (575), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle from Total Wine on Broad Street in Richmond. Clear orange pour with a two-finger head. Malty aroma with a hint of hops. Taste is slightly tart and grassy. Medium body. Gypsy19 (144), AMERICA RISING, USA Jun 20, 2008 An absolutely flavorless ale, troublingly by one of the world’s greatest breweries. A real let down coming from North Coast. Flavor is very weak and stale. Nice appearance and aroma and an orange, bubbly pour are the only highlights here. Nothing else to speak very highly of. Sorry, North Coast. buzzoven (64), Japan Jun 15, 2008 North Coast struck gold with Old Rasputin, but their pale ale doesn’t fare quite so well. Nice pale yellow pumpkin orange colour and a muted grassy smell. Taste is a bit underwhelming...slight malty caramel tones with a bitterness that just sort of sits there and doesn’t really fit into the scheme of things. The finish is too soapy for me to enjoy. There are some balance issues here. eboats (807), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 13, 2008 Bottled. Poured a hazy honey color with an off white head. Aroma is puke, grass, floral hops, and lemon. Flavor is a thin lemon, grass, and has vomit notes. Body is thin/medium.
