COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Special;
This beer has been brewed exclusively for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival and is named after the year when Blackpool FC was formed, known as ‘the tangerines’, because the director of this brewery is a fan! Dark crystal malt creates a rich, orangey-red colour, while the English hops give a crisp, fruity aroma and spicy bitterness in the flavour.

JDW Fest. Hazy amber beer, little off white head. Dry palate. Slightly toffeeish malt with a goods balance of bitterish marmalade hop. Finishes dry with a bitter lingering aftertaste. Ok.

Cask conditioned handpump Eastgate Northampton. A copper coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. An earthy old fashioned bitter, with reasonable depth. Fairly yeasty. Drinkable but disappointingly plain.

Cask handpul at Hope Spoons Reading. Clear copper colour with lasting thin beige head. Strangely ordinary for an Acorn beer. Some intense on a growing finish which is good. Plenty bitter on finish. Some malt in mouth. But apart from that finish its a bit run of the mill. Fine

Cask, The Francis Newton, Sheffield, UK. Deep mahogany, thick creamy head. Fruit aromas, peach and a faint cherry which comes through on the flavour. Sweet on the finish.

Cask conditoned at a Wetherspoons. Amber to tangerine with white head. Fruity malts initially, quickly crisping up to a sharp graininess then an orange skin hoppy character. Quite pleasant and lasting on the palate. I wrote going down rapidly, not sure if I meant the beer or the team.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Amber with a dense cream head; fruity aroma; biscuity malt flavour; and a crisp tangy hoppy finish. A pleasant, easy-drinking, bitter.

Hand pulled at the Briar Rose, Birmingham. Amber, with a thin head. Papery taste, with some glue. Feels a bit stodgy. A smidge of cereal to finish. Not digging this. Average.
