Clear medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, nutty peel - wood - earthy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101227]

Cask Handpump at the Penny Black JDW, Northwich 21/12/2010 Roast aroma. White head. Mid brown dark coloured fruity and a little rich on the palate with a hint of spiced flavour in a dry and slightly bitter roast finish.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. First one in this series that I’ve come across. Dark brown with a small white head. Rough, tough aroma with all sorts of stuff, good and bad: sweetness, earth, sweat, fag ash. Pleasant sweet, woody, leathery taste. Some bitterness. A decent Yuletide beer at last!
