UPDATED: OCT 24, 2007 Cask at GBBF, August 2006. Day 2, beer #12. Copper colour. Full, dry aroma with touches of fruity malt. On the palate its dry, distinctly bitter and surprisingly mouth-filling, whilst remaining eminently quaffable. Good balance of chewy malt and spicy hops. Lots of presence and taste for a low ABV bitter. Pretty much all you could want from the genre.

Cask conditioned – handpump – GBBF. An amber to dark brown coloured bitter. The aroma is nice and malty with some oat biscuit notes. The taste is nice and Autumnal. Malty flavours amongst bread and crackers. A good crunchy bitterness. A very good English bitter which can be all too rare.

My wife’s family hail from the fine old Yorkshire town of Barnsley. The beer that bears its name is amber with a small white head. Hops and roasted malt in the aroma. Ashy, earthy malty flavour. Pleasant mid-bitter finish. Good solid session beer.

Lightly roasty character to the dry, nutty aroma. Clear burnished copper coloured body with dense, pillowy, off-white, fine-bubbled head that lasts well and coats the glass. Nutty, roasty malt flavour with moderate bitterness. Medium body with fair carbonation. Cask at GBBF 2005.
