Our award winning Barnsley Bitter is brewed using the finest quality Maris Otter malt and English hops. Chestnut in colour, having a well rounded, rich flavour, it retains a lasting bitter finish. Brewed using yeast strains used in the 1850’s to brew ’Barnsley Bitter’.

[Cask at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Castleton, Derbyshire] Pours deep amber-brown with a medium creamy head. Tastes of malt, caramel and treacle; it’s very rich, very smooth, sweet and easy to drink. A great session beer.

On tap @ Thomson’s Bar. Pours dark amber with a decent head. The nose has toffee and resin. The taste is of ginger biscuits and toffee. The palate is medium bodied with a thick texture and a tangy finish. Overall, a good bitter.

Cask at CBC, London. Pours clear russet with a modest, white foam head. Quite a lovely aroma of lightly toasted malts, caramel and leaves. Light to medium sweet flavor, veery nive toasted caramel, toasty bread, mild leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Beautiful carbonation. Sweet, lightly bitter finish, more toasted caramel and modest bread, subtle fruits, toast. This is one of the best, most well balanced bitters I’ve ever had.

Deep brown color with a small off-white head. The nose is pretty neutral, some caramel, light sweet notes, some leather. The taste is suprisingly robust, plenty of sweet toffee notes, some wood, the finish is medium dry. The body’s medium, the carbonation light. Overall, an above-average bitter. Pleasingly ramped-up classic bitter flavors. Good for the style.

Cask at The Waters Green Tavern, Macclesfield. Clear orange gold with a medium off white head. I quite enjoyed this. Roasted malts and some bitterness, some fruity hops, hint of tobacco. I’d have this again.
