A deep malt and hoppy aroma with liquorice throughout. Roast malt, friut and hops also carry through this full bodied stout.

This is a really nice dark stout with a nutty nose and taste and an after taste that lingers, I would get this again and again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bought a bottle of Gorlovka from Asda & enjoyed it at the end of an evening, this ale is quality very hoppy full bodied stout with lots of flavours of liquorice & fruits. really tasty, different league to Guiness in my book. better looking new bottle too & like the Russian name.

Cas. Malty with a whiff of gravy powder on the nose. Dark as befits an imperial stout but the tan top could be improved in terms of creamy texture. Taste has smooth roasted malt with a little fruit flitting through.and some coffee notes in the finish. Imperial stout is not an easy style to master. I have yet to find my archetype but this isn’t it.

partiamo dal presupposto che non è un’imperial stout, stoutina da 6° carina ma niente di più

Handpull cask at the Kelham Island Tavern. Dark brown, only slightly translucent. Big tan head. Smells of sulphur and Bisto, not actively unpleasant but not enticing and certainly not beery. Taste is a different world altogether. Sweet, almost milky, with a strong tinge of liquorice and the slightest hint of clove. Nice full body with bitterness in the aftertaste. Not perfect but dangerously quaffable.

[7733-20150926] Cask. Mild chocolate grains aroma. Slightly hazy, dark brown cola body with a big long-lasting creamy light tan head and some spotted lacing. Bitter celery grains flavour has a mineral aftertaste. Medium body has a funky feel to it. Good. (7/4+/7/3/15) 3.6

On cask at the Watford Beer Festival, pours a dark cola color with a loose tan head. The smell is dark roast malt, fruit, chocolate. The taste follows the smell... It is light/medium in body with fine, mild carbonation.

2015-09-26. Very dark brown-black body with a nice creamy tan head. 4+ Aroma is mild, soft dusty roast, very lightly nutty hints. Flavour is relatively mild, soft dry roast malt. Lightly sweet dusty cocoa. Very smooth average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation is very good for cask. 3+ Enjoyable but it’s closer to a Guinness than a North American IS. Cask at Hedley Verity, Leeds.

Quoth Anna: Dark with mahogany tints. Aroma is chocolate and something close to tarry, very dark. Maybe a bit flatbut has a nice zing and a hint of liquorice in the finish. Quoth Phil: Agreed, but I put more liquorice in the aroma, and more chocolate in the taste. Very full, smooth sweet palate. Sweetish, but the caramel very nice.

Easy drinking stout quickly dissipating off white head some subtle liquorice hints and tobacco roastiness some sweetness to finish
