A full bodied victorian style porter with hints of liquorice. The initial bitterness gives way to a smooth, mellow finish.

Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A deep brown colour with a foamy off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee, wafers and some hazelnuts. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, hazelnuts, some coffee, biscuit, slight dried fruits, subtle liquorice and earthy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasty bitterness in the finish. A nice, pleasant porter. Sweet biscuity, chocolate flavours balanced with coffee, nutty and earthy hops. Delicious.

Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. Extremely dark brown, almost opaque. Smallish cream/tan head. Slate, coffee, hazelnut and vanilla in the aroma. Taste has a chocolatey sweetness, tempered by a well-judges amount of bittering hop. Chalky, medium dry palate with more coffee, and hot buttered toast. Very very good.

Cask at the Market Porter. It pours deep ruby-brown with a sturdy light tan head. The nose is rich roast, burnt toast, salted liquorice, cocoa and coffee grounds. The taste is toasty, earthy roast, coffee grounds, charred wood, pepper, mild caramel sweetness, light acidity and some liquorice. Medium body and fine carbonation. Robust and well-rounded. A quality cask porter.

On cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen in London. Chocolate on the nose. Creamy taste of chocolate. Nice and easy to drink and allot of flavour considering the ABV.
