duff (5405), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England May 3, 2006 Cask@Reading Beer Festival. Aside from the light roasty/chocolatey characters, theres a slight smokey, hammy flavour. Finishes quicker than i expected, but this is quite tasty. harrisoni (5130), Ashford, Kent, England Oct 13, 2006 Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Black with ruby edges, bubbly beige head. Chocolatey porter, choc malt aroma, nice velvery choc in mouth, bit of sourness, nice. Lovely aroma. Good porter. fonefan (4439), Ulfborg, Denmark Mar 4, 2008 Cask (gravity) @ The National Winter Ales Festival 2008, Manchester, UK. Clear medium red brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, coffee, notes of licorice. Flavor is moderate sweet, light acidic, and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat. Roasted, smoky nose, carrying through on to the palate, where it is joined by some soft fruity tones. Although I doubt that many porters are made by blending using old matured ale, I do expect a porter to reveal some sour notes on the finish that an old ale would bring. This version finishes rather soft and I agree with Silk Tork (and several others that tried it at the festival) that this is more of a mild than a porter; not the only beer at the festival that seemed to have something of a stout/mild/porter identity crisis. Nonetheless a pleasant beer, whatever it is, and a creditable effort from a fairly new brewery. Cask, Pigs Ear Beer Fest.

Cask at Chelmsford Beer Festival. Lovely sweet malt with some great milky coffee notes. Odd wheaty cereal flavour with a sweet yet bitter finish. Very tasty with impressive length. A glorious porter.
