leaparsons (3899), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Sep 3, 2004 Updated: May 7, 2005 Cask. Black or very dark brown with not much of a head. Aromas are earthy, peaty with roast malts - very typical of a porter. Flavours are roast malts, a touch of coffee with some earthiness and saltiness. Quite a degree of licourice in there, too. Dry on the finish. Very nice.

Almost black, healthy loose head. Chocolatey aroma, a bit sweet. Not sticky, in fact almost watery; refreshing. Beautiful well-balanced chocolatey taste, sweet roasted malts. Storming brew - best of the fest. cgarvieuk (2350), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 18, 2008 Cask on the Sheffield, on RateBeer Valley of Beer Crawl ’08...black,smooth roast malts, little sweet little chocolate, decent roast Svesse (1676), Hässelby, Sweden May 3, 2008 (Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 25 April 2008) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of liquorice and freshly ground, heavily roasted coffee. Malty, roasted taste with fresh coffee, dark fruit, ashes, prunes, liquorice and a hint of smoke. Nice coffee bitterness in the finish. Rather dry for a porter. Medium body. This really is an excellent porter!
