DruncanVeasey (5136) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, - APR 4, 2011
Cask handpull, The Smithfield Hotel, Manchester, 02/04/11. Bronze with a narrow white slick. Negligible aroma; a dab of lemon, some red apple yeastiness. Almond evident with the first sip; Battenburg, bitter orange, big shampoo bitterness....but without hops. Completely unattractive, really. In terms of hop varieties, sometimes more is more.

Cask at the Old Fountain. Pours a clear, amber-gold with a faint, white head. Rich sugar nose, some toffee and maple syrup and bread. Flavor seems slightly messy but still alright. Faintly tart, deep dough with some herbal bitters. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Doughy, sweet finish with very mild, leafy hops. Alright.

Cask, the York. Sheffield. Amber, bread and caramel. Creamy with a faint hop bite.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Bricklayers Arms Yorkshire Beer Festival on 24 February 2011. Mid gold /amber colour. Sweetish but decent hops. Not a big flowery hop but pretty solid. Fairly dry. OK. Not the most assertive or flavoursome of the Acorn single hop beers but I guess with a series like that you are always going to get some hops that make less of an impression than others when used on their own.
