3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Out of the Vaults, Leicester. Golden with an off-white head. Aromas are toffee malts with sweet spicy pine hops. Green and fresh. Flavours are fruity malts with spicy malts. Not a great deal of malt body but this is really about the hops. Dry, floral and pine. Hints of metal on the finish. Not bad.

Very dark amber beer with a very dry aroma with a slightly malty finish. The flavour is very dry. Overall a good dry beer.

Crown & Thistle, Gravesend. Dark amber best bitter with a very dry and dusty hop finish. Some orange marmalade in the middle. Very old school. Not my thing. Chrissie felt this and the Mauldon were a bit green, and I had to agree. Surprising for a pub which prides itself on the beer’s quality and won CAMRA Pub of the Year.
