Adelardus abbey beer is the youngest descendant of our beers. This dark brown beer was made for the open house days of the abbey. Adelardus was one of the most important abbots for the abbey of Trudo and the city Sint-Truiden. He built the tower and rebuilded the existing church into one of the most monumental churches of that time. The ingredients are: brewing liqour, malt, yeast, hop, candy and ‘sweet gale’. ‘Sweet gale’ is a mixture of ten spices from the region, which gives the beer his typical flavour. The alcohol content of this abbey beer is 7 % vol.alc.

Poured deep reddish brown with a beige ring. Aroma of dark fruit and sweet zesty malt. Medium lively body, flavour of sweet candy and berries, bitter sweet end.

Draught at Moeder Lambic. Nice amber color with a moderate head but quite fast dissapearing. Yeasty, sweet aroma. Flavor is heavy sweet, floral (I can’t really tell what kind of flowers), spicy. Interesting but quite strong flavors

33cl bottle from Mi-Orge Mi-Houblon. It pours a dark brown with a nice lacing. Resin, herbs and alcohol in the aroma. Medium to low carbonation. Too sweet for me.

Gradevolissima dubbel.
