The Colombian Monks in Kenya could really cut it loose during their annual retreat hosted by Del at the Navasha House. Clean, complex malty ale with nutty flavor and plum fruity aroma. Pair with hearty foods and medium intensity desserts. Goes great with barbecue or chocolate cake.

bomber to glass; been awhile since I had a dubbel - this one looks different - lighter than most - orange amber hue with white head. I didn’t get a lot of aroma - slight citrus and spice. nice med. palate. Taste was that of a dubbel - solid; has a slightly dry finish. solid brew; my first from Adelberts

(Draught) cloudy amber with long lasting fine offwhite bubbled head. Nose of rich raisin, cinnamon, a bit of clove and sweet apple. Taste of sweet raisin, cinnamon, spices, cream, the body is a bit light with soft carbonation.

25 oz. Bottle. Great dubbel! Light citrus scent with bread, plum, and malt. Deep copper pour with a frothy head, carbo loaded! Light/med body. Spice fronted taste with a bready molasses middle and big malt aftertaste. Loved it!

Not quite as good as their tripel but still mighty tasty. Caramel and raisin aroma. Taste is similar with some peppery notes.

Pours a murky copper with a lasting tan head. Aroma is raisin, nuts, and yeasty. Taste is caramel, doughy, some dates, and a little pepper. Lively on the palate and finishes dry. Not bad.

NIce pour... malty sweet with the lingering yeast and super long/mild hop note. Very fresh... Carbonated just right! George A. Hovey says he likes it.... :) Keep brewing and pollinating flowers bruda.

Bottle from batch 001 Bottle 2014. Bottled 1/2/12. Slow gusher, pours with mild chunks, hazed copper with lasting tan head of foam. Aromas are nutty, plums, raisins, currants, leather, prunes, chocolate and light phenols. Medium malt character. A bit spicy with some peppery alcohol notes (and a touch of fusel). Flavors are medium metallic, very sweet, berries, nutty, astringent tannic extraction, malty. Medium esters, caramel, chocolate, nutty, cocoa, DMS vegital. Lively bubbles, medium dry. Needs some work.

Pours a hazy rust-tinged burnt orange with a small white head. Aroma is kinda tangy with orange peel, sourdough bread, toast, grain, hay, slight caramel and raisin. Flavor of caramel, sourdough bread, raisin, grass, pepper, and a slight chardonnay-like flavor. Finishes with the yeast drying things out slightly and an aftertaste toast, tangy sourdough yeast, and some caramel. Medium to light bodied, fizzy mouthfeel, doesn’t quite hold it all together. Decent beer, but the flavors are very light and tangy in nature. Pouring the yeast in helps the beer, but overall it’s merely an average example of a style I love.

OK, everything about this beer screams Tripel not dubble, which almost makes me think they put it in the wrong bottle, but thats all I will say about that because its still a great beer. Aroma is sweet and spiced like apples and pears with cinnamon. Color is a deep golden with nice white head. Fairly malty flavor but those spiced fruit flavors come through quite a bit. A great beer, however misleading.
