Cloudy reddish brown color, moderate to large head, good lacing and retention. Aroma is raisin, plum, light banana, dark sugar, yeast, light alcohol. Medium to full body, raisin/plum flavor dominates with some alcohol burn. The oak/rum flavors are barely there. Really good.

This should be "Monks". 750 c&c from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Aroma of dark roasty malt with dark fruit. Full bodied. Flavor is some rum spice, with indications of chocolate, and raisins or similar. I’d prefer plum/prune, but this works. Finishes just less than dry. No problem with alcohol (except in the brain). Good quad.

Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with a huge tan head and a strange fruity aroma .There is a sweet fruity caramel malt flavor with some banana ester and a dry finish.

Smell is raisin and dark fruits and yeast. Taste is raisin sweet malt. Cloying for me but seems good for the style, if I had to hazard a non quad expert guess.

Medium khaki colored head which fades away rather quickly, minimal head retention most likely due to its high alcohol content. Dark chocolate brown color body.
Amazing! Chocolate, maple, sugary, caramel, toasted malt and nutty notes come through strong and weave in and out as well as come forth at different points during the pint.
I was initially hit with a complex and distinguished array of flavors that burst forth. As you take a drink, the ABV lets you know it’s there, not by taste but by a delightful warming sensation that is welcomed as you sift through the flavors. I noted: Fruits, apricots, plums, roasted coffee and chicory. It has a huge full bodied mouthfeel and a slight bitter finish that turns into a rich sugary-sweetness that lingers for some time.
I’m writing this on a cold, blustery night and I had opened this bottled after a long day of being outside in the cold. Once I popped the cork from this bottle I couldn’t be happier with my selection for the evening. This beer definitely needs to be tried and is easily the best quadruple I have ever had the good fortune to drink.

750 ml corked and caged bottle, which blew its cork up to the sealing without being a gusher. Pours a thick , well retained light beige head, with hints of lacing, over a hazy, dark copper (SRM 20) body......nose is heavy dried fruit, with plum, fig domination, hints of brown sugar, hints of molasses, minimal hops.....taste is quite sweet, with dried fruits, including fig, plum, raisin, hints of cocoa, light brown sugar, tending towards molasses, finishing almost dry with cocoa tones, minimal hop bitterness.....mouth feel, body light of medium, sticky, alcohol heat present, but tamped down by the heavy sweet sugars, minimal carbonation, light acidity. While falling well within the style, this is really. really sweet sugar, of various types, dominated. It would do better with greater attenuation, which leads to questions about yeast type, temperature at fermentation, and fermentation time. This recipe needs a bit of rework, but could become a better beer. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

Kind of a dish washing smell, little sweet as well, muddy appearance nice brown/whitish head, the taste is bitter, sweet, sour, the sourness isn’t very tart but kind of lingers. Very strange beer for a quad, certainly not what i expected. Did I get a bad bottle?

Pours a barely translucent dark brown with a thick light tan head. Strong, fruity, malty aroma invites a taste. Fruity, malty flavor is a bit sour and has a hint of chocolate. Texture is firm and fizzy - so fly away with it!

Tap at Zios. Pours a very murky dark reddish orange color. Big head response, creamy beige. Aroma is pretty fruity, woody, with a lot of yeast notes. Dark fruit like plum. Flavor is dark fruit, yeast with plenty of wood and alcohol. Has a big tingle over the palate and down the throat. Good but strong.

Bottle pour dark brownish copper. Nose red wine fruit, slight booze, some sweet fruit. Taste apple, stone fruit, heat from the alcohol. Toffee and caramel malt. Slight spice and sweet finish.
