Reddish brown pour, very little head. Nose of dark fruit, burnt grains, acetone, esters. Slight evidence of wood but not really any rum - odd metallic note.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 5000 (4962) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 30, 2013
Bottle:   Deep caramel, thin sudsy sandy head, little lacing.   Dark pitted fruit on the nose, bready, in the dark sense, sweet, caramel malts, a bit rummy, with soft wood and noticeable alcohol.   Bright dark pitted fruit and dark bready malts up front, alcohol, with a woody and soft rum background.   Still seems very green, young, and slightly brash.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Heavy barnish and musty notes on the finish, bready, dusty, some dark pitted fruit, wood, rum, and alcohol.   Lots going on, still seems a little young even.   Decent little beer, or should I say big beer, but remains a little green and brash as is.   Otherwise enjoyable.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jbeatty (500) - New York, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Bottle from D&Q Mini Mart, 12/21/2012. Pours amber brown, dense head with thick long lasting lacing. Aroma is nutty, earthy caramel, faint dried fruit with dark grains and wood. Taste is sweet roasted malt, plums and caramel rum booziness, somewhat metallic and soapy character. Medium palate, could use a bit more thickness. Ok, but not sure if the oak treatment adds much here.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20 GODiSSOUTHERN (317) - Virginia, USA - NOV 11, 2012
Interesting description, but strong metallic notes mixed with the dubbel qualities competing with it and making it hard to enjoy the raisiny/rum notes that might otherwise shine through.

750 bottle. Dark brown and hazy with a small white head. Nose is musty, woody. Taste is full of malt, with a big alcohol kick. A bit thin body but not bad. A little sweet and viscous. I don’t detect much rum taste in this one. Decent version of quad.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rougeau13 (1590) - Texas, USA - OCT 22, 2012
Bottle. Deep, clear reddish-brown with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of sweet, dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar, and a little wood. The taste is sweet malt and fruit with a hint of booze. Medium bodied and a little boozy and dry. The rum aspect is very mild, and that’s fortunate. Rum doesn’t do it for me at all.
